Cushman & Wakefield

Michael V. Shigley has been named an associate director at Cushman & Wakefield of Washington, Inc. He is a member of the firm's Valuation Advisory Services Group. Prior to joining Cushman & Wakefield, Shigley was active in the restructuring of the savings and loan industry.

CB Richard Ellis

John Bauer, formerly a market researcher with CB Richard Ellis, has been promoted to sales assistant in the company's Bellevue office. He will work with Ric Brandt in sales and leasing of industrial and office properties in east King County and south Snohomish County.

Windermere

Four new sales agents have joined Seattle-area offices of Windermere Real Estate. Drew Bloom has joined the Ballard office. He is new to real estate. Bob Wright has joined Windermere's Kent office. He previously worked eight years for Coldwell Banker Bain. Jing Gu has been hired by the Bellevue-South office. Prior to joining Windermere, Gu taught English for seven years at Beijing Foreign Studies University in Beijing, China. He graduated from Fudan University in Shanghai, China in 1986. And Kathleen Marie has joined the Bellevue-West office after working two years for John L. Scott. Also at Windermere, the Relocation Division, a founding member of Reliance Relocation Services, Inc., has become a member of a nationwide network of independent relocation firms with the merger of Reliance and RELO/InterCity Relocation Services, Inc. The combined organization is called RELO and is the largest organization of independent firms in the nation, with 1,100 member firns.

RE/MAX

Sales agents for RE/MAX International in Washington state handled 2,775 home transactions in the first quarter of 1998, a 9 percent increase over the same period in 1997. The total dollar volume was up 21 percent, to $478 million.

Knowlton joins Kennedy/Jenks' board

PORTLAND -- Martha S. Knowlton has been named to Kennedy/Jenks Consultants' board of directors. She joins existing board members Nathan A. Graves, Douglas B. Henderson, David D. Kennedy, Edward C. Kistner, Ira S. Rackley, John H. Rayner, Lynn M. Takaichi, Donald R. Weiden and John M. Stedman. Knowlton is an environmental consultant with more than 18 years of experience working for industrial clients. During her 11 years with Kennedy/Jenks, she has directed environmental assessments, investigations and cleanups of industrial properties throughout the western United States. Her area of expertise is providing environmental services to the wood-products industry. Knowlton is a vice president at Kennedy/Jenks and manager of the company's Portland office.

Kent chamber awards

Several members of the Kent Chamber of Commerce won Small Business Awards and four properties in the Kent Valley received Beautification Awards. Winners of Small Business Awards were: Poe Construction (Small Business of the Year -- Gross Sales Over $2 million), Facility Maintenance Contractors (Small Business of the Year -- Gross Sales Under $2 Million), Washington Women's Employment & Education (Woman/Minority-Owned Company of the Year), Amway Northwest Service Center (Green Company of the Year) and South County Journal (Leadership Company of the Year). The four properties receiving Beautification Awards were: James Street Center (Best Large Project -- Building Over 20,000 Square Feet), Kent Community Center (Best Small Project -- Building Under 20,0000 Square Feet), West Valley Business Park (Best Landscaping/Site Development) and Ski's Painting Facility (Best Renovation).

Kidder Mathews & Segner

Patricia Lindsey has joined the Seattle office of Kidder, Mathews & Segner Oncor International. She was formerly with CB Commercial, working as a retail broker for the past 18 years. Lindsey plans to advance Kidder's retail division.

Unico Properties

John Hansen has been named director of leasing for Unico Properties, overseeing activities in the 1.4 million-square-foot Metropolitan Tract for the company. He is succeeding Tom Callahan who is retiring in June after 30 years with Unico. Hansen was formerly with LaSalle Partners where he was most recently responsible for leasing for US Bank Centre and Queen Anne Square. Prior to that, he worked for RREEF Funds. In addition to the office and retail space downtown, Hansen will assist with leasing Unico's recently acquired properties.

Concord

This Saturday units in the North Tower of The Concord condominiums will go on sale. Condos in the First Avenue complex's 110-unit South Tower were 80 percent pre-sold during the first month they were on the market. The property is being billed as the "ultimate urban cocoon," with multi-media wall outlets in every unit. Virtual tours of the 223-unit, twin-tower condo were developed by HyperMedia. T. Jones Inc. is the developer. The firm also handled the renovation of The Elektra.

North Coast Mortgage

North Coast Mortgage, a subsidiary of L.J. Melody & Co., arranged permanent financing for the Hyatt Regency at Bellevue Place. Teachers Insurance and Annuity Association of America provided $32 million in funding for the borrower, Bellevue Place Hotel Limited Partnership.

CREW meeting June 10

Commercial Real Estate Women-Northwest will meet June 10 for a luncheon and presentation on the expansion of Sea-Tac Airport. Gina Marie Lindsey, aviation director for the Port of Seattle, will discuss the Port's commercial development strategies and changes coming to Sea-Tac. The event will be held at The Rainier Club, starting at 11:45 a.m. Cost is $22.50 for members and $30 for non-members. For information call CREW at 441-3966.

CREW, NAIOP to brighten Brighton

Members of the Washington State Chapter of the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (NAIOP) and Commercial Real Estate Women, Northwest (CREW-NW) will hold their annual community enhancement project June 6 at Brighton Elementary School on South Holly Street. They will be joined by local school officials, parents, teachers and children to work on painting, landscaping, pruning and weeding.
