Shelbi Pakar has been appointed account executive at Signature Media Services, a Tacoma-based communication solutions firm. Pakar formerly served as leasing director for the William Lyon Property Management Co.

The Seattle-King County Association of Realtors named Sam Pace Realtor of the Year for 1998. Pace is with Executive Real Estate in Bellevue and is president of the Washington Association of Realtors. He was honored for his service to professional associations at the local, state and national levels. Others honorees are: Ed Murphy of Re/Max Realty North in Seattle, Realtor Achievement Award; Nancy Colson of Windermere Real Estate Auburn, Susan Sanders of Coldwell Banker Bain Associates in Seattle and Shirley Hopkins of Windermere NE in Kirkland, Realtor Community Service awards; Craig Ellis of Pacific Northwest Title in Seattle, Affiliate of the Year; columnist Tom Kelly, Media of the Year; and Roni Strupat of Windermere Real Estate Auburn, Government Affairs Volunteer of the Year. The association's Pacesetter Award went to Fannie Mae -- Seattle Partnership Office for its support on numerous projects, including the Northwest Real Estate Technology Summit.
The recent changing of the guard was a family affair at Continental-Bentall where Claudio Guincher was named chief operating officer. He replaces his father, Luis Guincher, who will continue providing strategic advice as chairman of Continental-Bentall, the multi-family residential development arm of Bentall. Claudio Guincher will be responsible for operating and expanding the company's portfolio of high-quality residential rental holdings in the greater Seattle area. Continental-Bentall's recent projects include Monte Bello Apartments in Kirkland, Admiralty Apartments in Everett and Le Chateau Apartments in Bellevue. It currently is developing Westlake Tower in downtown Seattle, and looking at other downtown development sites. In other moves, Bentall U.S. promoted Barry Gilbert to vice president of acquisitions and development. Gilbert, who joined Bentall in 1990 at its headquarters in Vancouver, B.C., now manages Seattle area projects.
Jesse Ottele joined the Seattle office of Colliers International as a commercial real estate agent. He specializes in office leasing and sales. Prior to joining Colliers, Ottele worked in market research for CB Richard Ellis.
Gerald (Jerry) Dunbar has joined Norris, Beggs & Simpson's brokerage division in Bellevue. He has more than 20 years' experience in leasing, acquisition, property management and marketing. Before joining the firm he served as a real estate specialist contracted by the U.S. Postal Service to negotiate leases in Washington and Oregon. He also has worked for Bellevue's JM Consulting Group as a site acquisition representative for cellular communication companies.
Gregory A. Laycock, senior vice president of Grubb & Ellis in Seattle, brokered the recent sale of the Town Square Apartments in Bellevue. He represented the seller, Town Square I LLC, which sold the downtown Bellevue property of 191 units for $24.6 million to Oakwood Corporate Housing of Los Angeles. Town Square's name has been changed to Oakwood Bellevue. It is the third asset that Oakwood has bought in the Puget Sound region.

The Home Owners Club, which screens and dispatches home repair contractors for clients, is celebrating its 40th anniversary. The business charges annual dues to clients, who can call the club when they have a home improvement job. The club, in turn, dispatches the appropriate contractor. In its 40 years the Home Owners Club has completed more than 160,000 jobs and has never had an unresolved complaint, according to the Better Business Bureau.
The face of real estate in South Central Alaska has been altered by the purchase of all of Jack White Real Estate and half of Homestead Mortgage by Prudential Vista Real Estate. Jack White will become part of The Prudential Real Estate Affiliates Network and will do business as Prudential Jack White Real Estate. Homestate Mortgage will continue to operate under the same name. Richard and Naomi Fuller, owners of Prudential Vista Real Estate, said the acquisition of Jack White is expected to increase Prudential's residential market share in South Central Alaska to 40 percent. The firms' total sales volume last year was $700 million. The Jack White acquisition is the third for the Fullers. They previously bought Century 21 North and Martson Real Estate and merged them into Prudential Vista.
Five associates of Keller Williams Realty have been certified to teach clock-hour approved real estate courses. They are Carol DelRosario, Karen McKnight, Marcus Smith, Herb Holcombe and Rob Flick. They will teach at the firm's new Institute for Sales and Business Training. Keller Williams says it is the fastest growing national real estate franchise in the nation and is expanding in the Northwest.
