Kyoko Matsumota Wright is the first Asian-American to be named president of the Snohomish County-Camano Association of Realtors. The Coldwell Banker Bain agent, who will serve as president in 2000, has served on the group's board for eight years and has won several awards from the association. Matsumota Wright is also active with the Washington Association of Realtors, serving on the board of directors and on committees. She has been with Coldwell Banker Bain since 1983, starting in the North Seattle/Edmonds branch and now in the Seattle Metro-Capitol Hill office.
Tina Ureta, an assistant property manager in Cushman & Wakefield's Asset Services Group, has received her Real Property Administrator designation. The designation means she has completed a program of in-depth courses dealing with the ownership and management of major commercial buildings. Ureta has nine years of commercial real estate experience and has been with the company since 1992. She is responsible for daily property operations, tenant relations, contract negotiation/administration and finance/budgeting. She currently assists with on-site management at Key Tower in Seattle and Corporate Campus East III in Bellevue.
Mortgage101.com by Renton-based Lioninc.com, a provider of online business-to-business products and services for the mortgage industry, has made 100hot.com and USA Today's lists of hot sites in the mortgage industry. Updated weekly, Go2Net's 100hot.com ranked Mortgage101.com as the third most popular site behind Citibank.com and Bank Rate Monitor. Mortgage101.com also was featured on USA Today's Web site in the hot sites section. The rankings are a testament to the strength of Mortgage101.com's brand identity and consumers' demand for accessible information about the complicated mortgage industry, said Sam Ringer, president of Lioninc.com.
Lioninc.com also has announced a workforce consolidation initiative that focuses the company on a growth strategy for the coming years. The streamlining reduced overhead expenditures by eliminating duplications in several business areas. As a result of the move, David Stedman, vice president of marketing and sales, has taken on the additional responsibilities of chief operating officer. Ritchie Campbell, co-president, has left the organization to pursue other interests, according to the company. As COO, Stedman will assume control of all operational functions and provide the company with a marketing-driven focus.
Seattle-based Pinnacle Realty Management Co., has named John Bartlett vice president of the West Region. He is a 25-year veteran of Colorado and California real estate and will be responsible for acquiring new business in Colorado, Wyoming and Nebraska as well as overseeing the management of Pinnacle's multifamily portfolio in that area. Previously, he was region vice president for ConAm Management Co., in Denver. For 10 years he was responsible for daily operations of the company's commercial and multifamily management divisions and the Colorado brokerage operation. "I'm certain that he will quickly expand Pinnacle's Denver operation to rival the company's presence in Phoenix, San Diego, Seattle and other metro markets where Pinnacle is a major force," said West Region President Scott Mencaccy.
Bill Morrow has been promoted from assistant vice president and manager to vice president and manager of Seattle Mortgage Services' residential construction lending division.
In other news, Seattle Mortgage furnished $6 million in financing to develop Makkenzie Park, which consists of 32 homes on Kent's East Hill. Hultquist Homes is the builder. And Seattle Mortgage provided $2.3 million in financing for 12 residences that Dreamcraft Homes built in the Juanita Beach area of Kirkland.
Sales associates and staff at eight Seattle-area Windermere Real Estate offices worked with the Windermere Foundation to donate $28,630 to schools and organizations to fund rental assistance and buy items, such as furniture to school supplies, for low-income families. Contributing offices were Lake Forest Park, Lakeview, Northgate, Sand Point, Wedgewood, Seattle-Mount Baker, Seattle-Wall Street and Seattle-Capitol Hill. Volunteers run the foundation that is funded by a portion of sales commissions as well as donations. In its 10 years it has raised nearly $5 million.

The Seattle law firm of Lasher Holzapfel Sperry & Ebberson announced that Anthony J.W. Gewald has been selected to serve as managing principal for 2000. Gewald practices civil litigation in the areas of commercial law, real estate, employment law, torts and creditors rights. Gewald has been with the firm since 1979. The firm also announced the recent addition of Tara K. Manley to its team as an associate. Manley concentrates her practice in family law and commercial litigation.

inBuilding Systems Corp., a provider of high-speed Internet services, has been selected as the preferred Internet access provider for properties owned and managed by ScanlanKemperBard Companies of Portland. The decision affects more than 220 small and medium-sized business tenants who occupy about 1 million square feet of space throughout the Western United States. According to San Diego-based inBuilding, its Internet Access Program provides access that is 30 times faster than typical dial-up connections at lower rates. The program also has the Web-enabled Lobby Portal, a real-time, interactive directory. The directory lists the occupants of a building and provides Internet-based streaming video displays that have information about the building for tenants as well as real-time news. Initial Internet access and Lobby Portal installations are planned for Seattle, San Francisco and Las Vegas. In Seattle, ScanlanKemperBard's portfolio includes the Kent Business Campus, Kent Business Center, Jefferson Square in West Seattle, Lynnwood Corporate Center and the Paragon Building in Federal Way.
The Seattle-King County Association of Realtors and radio station KIXI are launching a weekly radio program to help people better understand how to buy, sell and rent homes. The "KIXI Realtor Home Show" is to debut at 8 a.m. Jan. 16 on AM 880 KIXI. The show will feature a variety of guests, who will address listeners' questions and discuss a range of real-estate related themes. Veteran broadcaster Jim Dai is the co-host/producer of the hour-long show, which leaders of the SKCAR will moderate. The Apartment Association of Seattle and King County, the largest association of rental housing owners in the Northwest, has elected officers to its Board of Directors for 2000. They are Alex Thole, president; Paul Birkeland, vice president; Doug Neyhart, treasurer; and Jo Ann Storey, secretary. AASK has more than 2,400 members whose holdings range from a single house or condo to some of the region's largest apartment complexes. Two-thirds of the members own less than 10 rental housing units.
The 83-unit Longfellow Creek Apartments, 5915 Delridge Way S.W., in Seattle has sold for $5.92 million. American Capital Development sold it to Alfred Sheridan. Robert Sheppard of the Bellevue office of Marcus & Millichap negotiated the deal. The Brookside Gardens Apartments, which contain 52 units at 804 100th St., Court E, in Tacoma, sold for $2.05 million. Mr. and Mrs. James Jackson sold to Patrick O'Hare. Robert DiPietrae of the Bellevue office of Marcus & Millichap represented the principals. He also represented the principals in the $2.275 million sale of the 55-unit El Nor House Apartments, 117 18th Ave., in Seattle. Betsuin Housing Corp., sold to Capitol Hill Housing Improvement Program.
J.W. Smith of Cain and Scott brokered the sale of the Beardslee Cove Apartments in Bothell. The 90-unit complex sold for $6.6 million. Fox Beardslee Cove LLC sold to Beardslee Cove Apartments LLC.
Kevin Fritz has been hired by Norris, Beggs & Simpson as an office specialist at the commercial real estate service company's Bellevue office. He will be responsible for leasing and selling office space throughout the Eastside market. Before joining Norris, Beggs & Simpson, he was in management at Today's Staffing, a clerical-staffing company.
J. Lennox Scott, president of John L. Scott Real Estate, has been appointed to the board of the Northwest Multiple Listing Service. The listing service provides database services covering residential real estate in 10 Western Washington counties and furnishes contract support for listing services in two other counties. The broker-owned association includes 900 brokerages with more than 13,000 sales associates. Scott said the service is one of the most progressive multiple listing organizations in the country and sets the standard for the rest of the nation for cooperation in the competitive arena. Also at John L. Scott, Kat Lewis is a new sales associate at the Laruelhurst office in Seattle.
Seattle Savings Bank is assisting Mutual Interest, a new, nonprofit association created to help low-income renters in King County. Mutual Interest pools funds gathered from the interest earned on escrow accounts that hold security deposits for landlords. Mutual Interest directs those monies back to nonprofit groups that help low-income renters with move-in costs, such as security deposits. Seattle Savings Bank offers accounts to landlords free of service fees and minimum balance requirements. Interest earned on these accounts is moved to an account Mutual Interest maintains. The interest donations are deductible as charitable contributions.
