Penny Crowe was elected 2000 president of the Seattle Chapter of the Appraisal Institute. She is the principal of Crowe Appraisal Co. of Mercer Island. The chapter also elected Courtney Hashimoto as appraiser of the year for his service. Other chapter officers are Marc Campos, vice president; Jim Price, treasurer; and Richard Hagar secretary.

Ed Turpin has joined Cushman & Wakefield of Washington and will focus on leasing and sales in the Kent Valley. He began his career at Colliers International and most recently was principal of Sound Commercial Partners LLC, a company he formed in 1998.
Joe Wang has joined the Sabey Corp., as a leasing/development manager. Most recently he was a project manager for Intracorp and will focus on Sabey's Intergate development, which at 1 million square feet is the largest multi-tenant Internet campus in the Seattle metro area. He was raised in Southern California and moved to Seattle in 1992. Wang is fluent in Chinese.
In other news, Sabey officials say that its Queen Anne Square, the two-building complex on Lower Queen Anne, has become a preferred location for Internet startup companies. Seven new tenants and six renewing tenants recently have leased a total of nearly 46,600 square feet.
Craig Norsen has been named principal of the Seneca Real Estate Group of Seattle. He has more than 30 years of construction management experience and joined the company in 1997. Most recently, he managed an expansion of the campus at Lakeside School in Seattle and he is a member of the new Downtown Seattle Public Library Project Team. He also is on the Seattle Architectural Foundation Board of Directors.
Roger Wright has been promoted to leasing director for the properties owned and/or managed by Wright Runstad & Co. in downtown Seattle. Company officials say he has been a stellar performer for 11 years in senior management and leasing positions in Bellevue and Seattle. He most recently was general manager for the Bank of America Tower in Seattle.
John Hansen, formerly with Unico Properties and LaSalle Partners, has joined Wright Runstad as the leasing manager of the Bank of America Tower and the Wells Fargo Center, also in Seattle.Christa Goins will assist Hansen in his new position.
Janice Blackmore, a four-year veteran of Wright Runstad's leasing group, has been promoted to leasing associate. She and Roger Wright will work together on leasing transactions. The leasing team includes the services of lease administrator Judith Hoyle and her assistant Nathan Good.
Ken Dudunakis was named the No. 1 agent in the Puget Sound region and No. 2 nationally at Marcus & Millichap's recent awards presentation in Hawaii. He closed 16 transactions worth more than $128 million in sales.
Also, Robert Parmar of the Bellevue office represented the principals in the sale of a 14-unit apartment at 2834 15th Ave. W., in Seattle. Milton and Michael Nelson sold the property to Frank and Judy Oliver for $1.287 million.
The sale of a 28-unit apartment complex, the Bering, on Seattle's Capitol Hill set the region's per-unit price record for a pre-Depression brick building. Gary Petersen, whose family held and managed the building for 50 years, sold it to Balfour Bering LLC, a partnership between Sandy Somerville and Jim Daly, for $3.75 million, or $133,930 a unit. Cain and Scott brokers negotiated the sale, with Tom Cain representing the seller and J.W. Smith representing the buyer. The new owners plan to convert the building to condos, according to Cain.
Smith and fellow Cain and Scott agents Jim Claeys and Dave Kilbourn brokered the sale of the 108-unit Park 128, a 1986 garden complex, in South Everett. A national financial services institution sold it to local syndicator Jones and Murphy for $5.8 million.
Koss Property Management, 5232 University Way N.E., in Seattle will celebrate 10 years in business with an open house from 4 to 6 p.m. Feb. 24. The company specializes in full-service residential property management for the owners of single-family homes, condominiums and small multi-family properties. Owner Tamara Simon established the company and is active in the real estate and property management community. She regularly presents property management workshops.
Longview-based BuySellBid.com, Inc., a developer of online multimedia classifieds, says it has significantly increased its real estate classifieds section.
The site, now features more than 800,000 Multiple Listing Services classifieds. Homeseekers is BuySellBid.com's exclusive real estate data partner for MLS listings.
BuySellBid.com is 4 years old and company officials say it has become the largest provider of multimedia classifieds content to the traditional media industry. Chief Executive Officer Jay Shepard says the goal is to become the largest, locally focused classifieds portal on the Web. The company has developed a repository of 2.3 million multimedia classifieds distributed over a network of 1,600 radio, television and cable station Web sites.
The new real estate section of BuySellBid.com provides visitors access to more than 1 million classified listings, including rental property, for sale by owner and MLS listings.
Ultimately, HomeSeekers.com content also will include information on commercial real estate, residential foreclosures and vacation resorts, according to BuySellBid.com.
Windermere Real Estate has five new associates at its Seattle offices. The are associate broker Jinny Weintraub at the Northwest office and sales associates Will Kemper and William Purdy at Eastlake, Toni Clayton at Lakeview and Wendy Saddler at Queen Anne.
Seattle Mortgage Co., the largest, independently owned mortgage banking company in Washington, has hired several new staff members.
Bob Rygg and Patrick McLean have joined the Commercial Loan Department. Rygg, who has more than 30 years of commercial loan origination experience, will be vice president at the Bellevue location. McLean has been with the company at its Tacoma branch where he originated residential loans. He has lived in Tacoma for 23 years and his knowledge of Pierce County will assist in dealing in commercial properties there. Also joining the commercial department in Bellevue is Joey Pagaragan, assistant manager and underwriter, and Karrie McBroom, an assistant commercial closer.
David A. Skow has joined the company as a loan officer at the Bellevue Net Branch. Cynthia J. Merrifield is the manager of the Florida Net Branch.
Jan Angel is a new mortgage loan specialist at Lynnwood Mortgage Corp.'s Silverdale branch. She has 29 years' experience and is the recipient of several national awards in banking, real estate and community service. She is a past president of the Port Orchard Chamber of Commerce and is active in other community groups.
