Department of Financial Institutions

The Department of Financial Institutions announced that Robert Whitney was named chairperson and Dennis Daugs was appointed commissioner of the State Escrow Commission. Whitney is division president and branch manager of the Yakima branch office of Wynwood Servicing and Technology. Daugs is an escrow officer, limited practice officer, co-owner and vice president of SeaTac Escrow.

Pacific Engineering Design

Maher Abed has joined Pacific Engineering Design as a senior civil engineer and project manager in charge of civil design for residential and commercial projects. Abed comes to the firm from the city of Pacific, where he was the public works director. Pacific Engineering Design is a civil engineering company based in SeaTac. The firm works on platting for single-family lots, multifamily developments, commercial retail and hotel development.

TicketsWest.com

TicketsWest.com, an operating division of Cavanaugh's Hospitality Corp., a lodging, entertainment and real estate services company, announced the acquisition of The Show Terminal for an undisclosed amount. The acquisition is expected to close by the end of October. The Show Terminal, based in Colorado Springs, Colo., provides ticketing services to entertainment events in and around that city. The 12-month gross receipts for The Show Terminal were approximately $4.6 million.

Everett Mutual Bank

EverTrust Financial Group, the holding company of Everett Mutual Bank and Commercial Bank of Everett, announced the appointment of David Thatcher as Everett Mutual Bank's regional manager, Eastside Commercial Real Estate Loan Center. Thatcher will specialize in construction and term lending for commercial and multi-family properties.

Opus Northwest

Opus Northwest has hired Dwight Newell as real estate manager for the Seattle area. He is responsible for the Opus Center @ Union Station. Two entities, Andersen Consulting and Sound Transit, have leased space in the three-building project, and among commercial real estate experts it is believed that Amazon.com is leasing space in the complex. In addition to the Union Station center, Newell will pursue other development opportunities in the city of Seattle. He previously was a vice president and market manager for Jones Lang LaSalle in the Puget Sound region.

Windermere

Lori Scavotto-Gill has joined Windermere Real Estate as a property manager in the company's Seattle office. She previously worked as a property manager at Pioneer Realty.

North Coast Mortgage

North Coast Mortgage Co., a subsidiary of L.J. Melody & Co., has arranged fixed-rate financing in the amount of $11 million for Space Center East in Kent. American United Life Insurance Co., provided the funding through Jack Standeford and Lois Townsend in the Seattle office of North Coast Mortgage on behalf of the borrower H-P Properties LLC. The park consists of three concrete industrial buildings totaling more than 365,000 square feet and is home to Boeing, Euro-Tek Store Fixture Co., and Vestcom Northwest.

Paragon Real Estate Advisors

Brokers at Paragon Real Estate Advisors in Seattle have announced the recent sales of three Seattle apartment properties. In Seattle, the Westridge Apartments, 3236 S.W. Avalon Way, sold for $2.235 million. Peter Larsen represented the sellers, Beatrice and Lee Johnson, and Michael McQuaid and Larsen represented the buyers, Curtis and Karen O'Conner and Katherine and Steven Jansen. The seven-unit Schloredt Apartments, 3640 Wallingford Ave. N., in Seattle, sold for $700,000. Paul Mickley represented the seller, Sharon Schloredt, and McQuaid and Larsen represented the buyer, Brian J. Reagan. Cathy Janey represented the sellers, Burdette and Mildred Anderson, in the sale of the Carol Apartments, 4108 Fremont Ave., N., in Seattle. The Carol has six units and sold for $510,000. Cohen Properties bought it.

Marcus & Millichap

Kim Eap and Chay Chong of Seattle bought the 33-unit Kenthurst Apartments, 1111 W. James St., in Kent for $1.28 million from Esa and Zallykha Mouhamath. Larry Corkins and Victor Wuamett of Marcus & Milllichap Real Estate Investment Brokerage Co., represented the sellers.

Equity Residential Properties Trust

Equity Residential Properties Trust, the nation's largest publicly traded apartment company, has opened Waterstone Place Maintenance Training Center, 2211 S. Star Lake Road, in Federal Way. The center will train Equity Residential maintenance employees and plans call for using the center with outreach job corps programs. With 46 apartment communities in the Seattle-Tacoma area, Equity will provide training for its 119 maintenance staff at the center. 0Equity is in discussions with local job training, not-for-profit groups to determine ways the new facility can also help job seekers learned property maintenance skills.

Keystroke.com

Gomez Advisors Inc., a provider of e-commerce research and analysis, has ranked Seattle-based Keystroke.com first in the Overall Cost category in securing a home loan. In addition, Keystroke topped the list for homebuyers Gomez classifies as "rate hunters," or people looking for immediate quotes, instant approvals and low rates.

Lion Inc.

John A. McMillan has been appointed chief executive officer of Renton-based Lion Inc., the parent company of Lioninc.com, a developer of Internet products and services for the mortgage industry. McMillan joined the company's board in January. McMillan is a director and member of the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors of Nordstrom.

Coldwell Banker Bain

Coldwell Banker Bain has added two new search features - Personal Retriever and My Favorites - to its Web site, http://www.coldwellbankerbain.com. Personal Retriever sends e-mail notifications when a home comes on the market that matches a customer's preference. My Favorites helps homebuyers narrow their search online. It allows users to consolidate a list of selected homes into a personal portfolio that can be e-mailed to co-buyers and agents.
