Stephen Penn has moved from managing Teachers Insurance and Annuity Association's Bothell office properties to overseeing Spieker Properties' downtown Bellevue projects. Under the title of project director, Penn will lead management of Spieker's three existing office buildings and development of the California-based company's proposed 24-story office tower.

Dexter Brown joined developer Opus Northwest as a project manager. His first assignment is tenant improvements for Opus Center @ Union Station. Opus, the Bellevue-based arm of the large Minneapolis development company Opus Corp., ranks among the Puget Sound area's most active developers.

Sonna Durdel was promoted to executive director of developer Insignia/ESG's Pacific Northwest Region, responsible for development, leasing, construction and sales of more than 40 million square feet of commercial property. In her previous role as managing director, Durdel led Los Angeles-based Insignia/ESG's rise from sixth to second most-active developer in Portland, according to Insignia/ESG.

Keller Williams Realty

Carla Cross was promoted to Northwest regional director in the Bellevue office of Keller Williams Realty. Cross is responsible for recruiting owners of new Keller Williams offices and supporting existing ones in Washington, Oregon and Idaho. Cross' accomplishments include publishing five books on real estate sales and producing a sales productivity seminar that won her awards as a sales educator.

CREW to hear about Vulcan

Irma Dore of billionaire Paul Allen's company, Vulcan Northwest, will talk about Vulcan's array of development projects at Commercial Real Estate Women's next monthly lunch gathering. The event will be held at noon on Nov. 9 at the Bellevue Club, southeast of downtown Bellevue. Vulcan's projects include Experience Music Project, the new Seahawks stadium, 505 Union Station office building, rehab of the Cinerama theater and the proposed Terry Avenue Technology Court in South Lake Union. NAIOP's Night of the Stars

Some additional details on tomorrow's "Night of the Stars" dinner by the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties: NAIOP will induct developer Jon Runstad into its Commercial Real Estate Hall of Fame and name Vince Lyons as public official of the year. Also, funnyman Pat Cashman, currently a humor columnist on the front page of the Eastside Journal, will serve as master of ceremonies for the Oct. 27 event. Runstad is founder, chairman and CEO of Seattle-based Wright Runstad & Co., which built numerous office towers in Seattle and Bellevue. Lyons works as a permitting specialist for the Seattle Department of Design, Construction and Land Use. The black-tie event will be tomorrow evening at the downtown Seattle Westin Hotel.

Apartmentcomps

Bill Strader has taken the new position of vice president and director of marketing for Seattle-based Apartmentcomps Inc., a startup company that lists apartment building sales data on the Internet. Strader jumped from competitor RealFacts, based in California. Strader will help "build the systems to handle current customer flow as well as pro-active strategies to rocket the company to a new level," said Apartmentcomps CEO Dan Sanchez. The company now lists 6,000 properties in the Sun Belt and expects to reach 20,000 in 30 markets nationwide by year-end, Sanchez said.

Windermere Real Estate

Joe Maxwell became designated broker and president of a new Windermere Real Estate residential office in Puyallup, the company's second office in the Pierce County city. The new office employs 20 sales associates. Maxwell was designated broker and branch manager for John L. Scott's Puyallup/Canyon Road office from 1995 to this year. He worked as a sales associate for Prudential Benton Realty from 1987 to 1993.

Linda Santos, Douglas Erhardt, Brooks Friedman and Caitlin Johnston joined Keller Williams Realty's Bellevue office as affiliates.

Fair on affordable housing for Indians

The second annual outreach fair to promote affordable housing and home ownership for Native Americans in the Puget Sound area is scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 29th, at Discovery Park in Seattle. The event will run from noon to 4 p.m. in the Daybreak Star Cultural Center. It's called the Housing Information Fair & Children's Halloween Party. Four agencies organized it: the United Indians of All Tribes Foundation, the Seattle Indian Health Board, the Tlangit & Haida Washington Chapter and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. RE/MAX in Port Angeles

Nine-year agents Alan and Michaelle Barnard bought a Port Angeles franchise from RE/MAX International. The office, called RE/MAX Performance Team, will work for buyers and sellers in residential, commercial and raw land.
