Travis Stanaway has joined the South Seattle office of Kidder Mathews, where he will focus on sales and leasing of industrial properties. Kidder Mathews has more than 200 brokers in nine offices in Washington, Oregon and California.
Austin, Texas-based Keller Williams Realty says it now has the most real estate agents in the country. Keller Williams has approximately 80,000 brokers in 700 offices. It passed Coldwell Banker to become the largest brokerage. A strong 2012 helped fuel the company's growth. New agent hires last year increased 23 percent over 2011, and closed transactions were up 31 percent. Washington, Oregon and Idaho are among the top producing offices in the company.
Shorenstein Properties of San Francisco has completed the Building Owners and Managers Association's International 7-Point Challenge. The program is designed to help building owners reduce their environmental impact. Benchmarks in the 7-Point Challenge include: decreasing energy consumption by 30 percent; employing the Energy Star metrics to track energy performance and water usage; providing education to engineers, owners and operators; performing energy audits; and improving operations and building maintenance systems. At the challenge's conclusion, Shorenstein decreased energy usage 32 percent across the company's national office portfolio.

Commercial real estate firm CBRE hired Paul Okerlund as director of the Seattle project management team. Okerlund has more than 25 years of experience in leading teams and managing projects. Okerlund worked at Howard S. Wright Cos. for the last 19 years in various roles.

Michael Newton has joined Kidder Mathews' South Seattle office and will specialize in industrial leasing and sales. Newton has been a broker for 23 years, and he last served as an industrial specialist and principal with NAI Puget Sound Properties. Kidder Mathews has more than 200 brokers in nine offices in Washington, Oregon and California.


The Bellevue office of Keller Williams Realty hired three new agents. Andrew Choi, Edgar Dominguez and Joy Wang are all entering the residential real estate industry for the first time. Keller Williams is based in Austin, Texas, and has more than 700 offices and 78,000 associates in the U.S. and Canada.
The city of Kirkland will hold a meeting about an ordinance that would prohibit landlords from refusing to rent to tenants just because they are using Section 8 Housing Choice Vouchers. The informational meeting will be at 7 p.m. Feb. 26 in Kirkland City Hall, 123 Fifth Ave. The Kirkland City Council will discuss the ordinance March 19. More information is at http://bit.ly/WUJ3H4
