Commercial Real Estate Women Seattle & Sound will hold its annual Signature Event Oct. 22 at the Space Needle. It starts at 7 p.m. with beer and wine, food, and live music. There will be an auction with proceeds used to help women pursuing careers in construction management, architecture, law, business, engineering and urban planning. Capitol Hill Housing's 12th Avenue Arts was one of 10 winners in Urban Land Institute's Global Awards for Excellence. It was one of five U.S. projects. The other winners are in England, France, Sweden and China. 12th Avenue Arts is at 1620 12th Ave. on Capitol Hill, with 88 units of affordable housing, theater space, offices, retail and underground parking for the Seattle Police Department. SMR Architects designed it, and Walsh Construction Co. was the general contractor.
The Seminar Group will hold a meeting on the federal EB-5 immigrant visa program Nov. 19 at Hilton Seattle. The program offers permanent residency green cards for immigrants who invest in job-creating projects. Tarragon said it added Kerry Doss as a development manager. He will focus on asset management and entitlements for suburban multifamily projects. Doss has more than 15 years of construction and development experience. Tarragon develops residential, industrial, office and retail projects in Washington, California and Nevada.
Sabey Data Centers hired Rob Rockwood to lead the Seattle-based company's East Coast expansion. In the new position of senior vice president, eastern region, Rockwood will work on the company's 1 million-square-foot data center in New York City and a planned data center in northern Virginia. Rockwood owned a consulting firm called Faris Group and before that was senior vice president and general manager of CoreSite LLC, a national data center firm. Sabey has more than 3 million square feet of data center space.
Urban Land Institute Northwest will detail trends and predictions for next year at the Emerging Trends 2016 meeting at 7:30 a.m. Oct. 27 at the Sheraton Seattle hotel, 1400 Sixth Ave. Mitch Roschelle, a partner and U.S. real estate advisory practice leader at PwC will be the keynote speaker. There will be a panel of local experts announced later. The event also includes a presentation on ULI and PwC's annual Emerging Trends in Real Estate report.
