LoanStar Home Lending

LoanStar Home Lending in Portland said after two years in business the Portland office has grown to 120 loan officers and 315 employees. Loan volume is projected to reach $750 million this year and the company projects it could reach $1.5 billion in new originations in 2016. The firm said in a press release that residential mortgage growth is recovering after the recession. LoanStar has branch offices throughout the West, and is licensed in Oregon, Washington, California, Idaho, Colorado, Utah, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas.

NEBC brownfields forum in Portland

The NEBC is holding a free brownfields forum on Wednesday, Dec. 16, from 10 to noon at Refuge PDX, 116 S.E. Yamhill St. in Portland. Portland's Central Eastside has a long history of industrial/commercial enterprises. The Portland Development Commission says the area is a focal point for economic development. This forum will look at past and future land use in the district, and the role brownfields properties may play. Speakers are Troy Doss of the Portland Bureau of Planning & Sustainability, Noel Johnson of Killian Pacific, Debbie Kitchin of InterWorks and the Central Eastside Industrial Council, and Geraldene Moyle of Portland Development Commission. NAIOP honors top brokers for 2015

Brokers from CBRE, Colliers International and NAI Puget Sound Properties took home SIOR Broker of the Year awards at NAIOP's annual Night of the Stars. Owen Rice, a senior vice president at CBRE, was named top office broker. He works with large tenants like Safeco and is a member of CBRE's Life Sciences Practice Group. Paul and Billy Sleeth of Colliers were top investment brokers. The Sleeths specialize in retail throughout the region. Arie Salomon, a principal at NAI Puget Sound Properties, is top industrial broker. He specializes in sales and leasing and works with major institutional investors.

Plymouth Housing Group added three people to its staff. Lyle Harris is a senior real estate developer responsible for new projects and managing buildings. He has more than 20 years of experience in housing and community development. Lynn Beck is chief development officer, and her role includes shaping the organization's image and getting financial support. She worked at Pine Street Group for 16 years as general manager and marketing manager for Pacific Place. Tammie Schacher, is chief administration officer overseeing human resources, compliance, IT and other departments. Schacher was a principal at Mithun and executive director at Zeno, an organization that helps students with math.

NorthMarq arranges $8M Salem refi

Michael T. Elmore and Mark Dodson of NorthMarq Capital's Los Angeles office secured $8 million in refinancing for a 93,860-square-foot shopping center in Salem, Oregon. Sunnyslope Shopping Center is at 4555 Liberty Rd. S., anchored by Roth's Fresh Markets. The loan comes from a CMBS lender and has a 10-year term, with a five-year interest-only period followed by a 30-year amortization schedule. NorthMarq Capital produces $13 billion in loans annually and has a portfolio of more than $45 billion.

VacationGuard offers rental insurance

VacationGuard of Bellevue is working with Berkshire Hathaway Travel Protection of Stevens Point, Wisconsin, to offer insurance for timeshares, travel clubs, resorts and vacationers. VacationGuard has been offering insurance for vacation rentals for more than 20 years. The deal gives VacationGuard new technology and security. The products have been approved in 45 jurisdictions and may be available in the future in Washington and Oregon.
