CREW: Tour Spheres; meet mayors

Amazon's Spheres

It's hard to get a ticket to see inside Amazon's famous new plant-filled Spheres. But CREW will take you there at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 15. And if botany isn't your thing, how about meeting the mayors of Mercer Island, Everett, Issaquah, Kent, Arlington and Kirkland? CREW's Sept. 13 luncheon honors female mayors in our region (though Jenny Durkan will not attend). That event takes place at 11:30 a.m. at the Sheraton, 400 Sixth Ave. Details and registration for both events: crewseattle.org.

Barrientos leads Uptown ULI tour

Center Steps

Why is it called Uptown? How is it different from Lower Queen Anne? And whatever happened to the counterbalance? These questions and more will be answered by developer Maria Barrientos of Barrientos + Ryan, who is leading a walking tour of that booming and recently upzoned hood. Also on the walk: Sloan Dawson of Sound Transit, Robert Nellams of Seattle Center and Deborah Frausto of Uptown Alliance. Barrientos + Ryan is developing the 285-unit Center Steps on a block near McCaw Hall. Meet at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 26 at McCaw Hall. The walk concludes with a reception. Register at northwest.uli.org.
