David A. Marques has been named director of carrier relations for Toll Free Cellular, a locally-based company responsible for launching the nation's first toll and airtime-free service for cellular telephone users. As director, Marques will be instrumental in developing and managing relationships with cellular carriers and other wireless service providers nationwide.
Piranha Productions, Inc., a full-service post-production and editing studio, has expanded its capabilities to include QuickTime VR. QuickTime VR is Apple Computer's newest virtual reality product allowing users to control 3-D images of objects of their personal computers. With QuickTime VR, Piranha can use either photographs or computer-rendered images to create a movie.
Five new staff members have joined Elgin DDB and Elgin Syferd Public Relations. Joining Elgin DDB's creative department are Greg Brown as art director and Chris Halas as a copywriter. Steve Sommers has been hired as an assistant planner and buyer in Elgin DDB's media department. Three promotions have also been announced within Elgin DDB. Leann Ebe is now vice president/account supervisor, Jerry Grant was promoted to vice president/director of broadcast production, and Suzanne Dwyer is now a media planner and buyer. Elgin Syferd Public Relations (ESPR) has added two new staff positions in its Emerging Technologies Group to help manage the agency's rapidly increasing high-tech client base. Laura Bridenback has been hired as a senior account executive and Rick Keller joins ESPR as an administrative assistant.

CDCOM, Inc. of Federal Way has hired David Swarm as production manager. Swarm was general manager for Seattle Micro Inc. CDCOM, Inc. is a CD-ROM processing, duplication and distribution service bureau. Products include Laser Express which is a direct replacement for microfiche. The newest addition to the product line is Parts Express, an electronic parts catalog which can be used by companies to distribute parts, assemblies and finished goods.
Bellingham-based Alpha Technologies, Inc. is opening a new facility in Sydney, Australia. The 15,000-square-foot facility will house manufacturing and final assembly operations as well as sales offices and a customer service center. Alpha recently signed a $20 million, three-year contract to supply Optus Vision of Australia with power products. Alpha Technologies, Inc. produces a line of power protection products for the telecommunications and cable television industries, including custom, application-specific power solutions. In addition to the new plant in Australia, the company operates facilities in Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany and Cyprus.

RSP/EQE recently hired Thomas Lee as senior engineer. Lee will is working on work both structural design and risk assessment projects. He is currently working on the design of the Anhueser Busch bottling plant in St. Louis. His experience includes leading th design effort for the Kenworth Truck assembly plant in Renton, and he has also competed structural design project for Weyerhaeuser, General Motors and Microsoft.
Douglas Blair has joined Bassetti Architects as business manager. His background include 13 years managing architectural and engineering practices and 7 years as a owners's project manager. He holds degree in construction management and business administration. Eric Thomas Lanciault and Marnie Lanore Boomer have joined the project team for the Edmonds Woodway high School. Lanciault is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame and has experience in commercial, mixed use, health care and educational projects. His work includes projects in the historic Huang Pu District of Shanghai, China. Boomer holds a masters degree in architecture from MIT. She has design and management experience in judicial and science buildings, multi and single family housing, and urban planning. Boomer is a board member of Seattle's Homelessness Project. Paul Richards is a graduate of the University of Washington and joins the firm as and intern. Matt Bennett is the firm's new general office and computer assistant.

Steve's Copy & Blueprint, Inc. has announced the opening of a full service production facility at 307 Main St., Mount Vernon, serving the Skagit Valley area. The new facility, like the Steve's store in Bellingham, will offer copies, oversized copies, blueprinting, offset printing and retail goods such as: blueprint supplies, plotter supplies, architectural and engineering supplies. Linda Suggs, formerly the Computer Graphics Department production manager of Steve's, will lead the staff in Skagit Valley as Operations Manager. Vickie Suiter will serve as the sales and marketing associate, Bob Yaple will act as the offset Print Manager.
Colleen Miller, former partner of Elite Sports & Events in Denver, Colo., has joined WHaM Communications as an account supervisor. Miller brings with her 13 years experience in consumer product marketing, sports promotions, special event creation and sponsorship management. At WHaM she will oversee both consumer and trade media outreach campaigns for Muzak, Sun Dog, a Seattle manufacturer of travel bags, camera cases and accessories and Provident Ventures, a Bellevue-based interactive software company.
Hunt Marketing Group (HMG), a Seattle-based direct marketing agency, has hired six new employees in its Seattle and Phoenix offices. The new Seattle-office employees are Glynis Delargy, assistant controller; Chris Garces, account coordinator; April Low and Virginia Wright, production artists; and Christa Vibber, receptionist. Jennifer Campagna has been hired as an account coordinator/receptionist for the agency's five-person Phoenix office, which opened January 2, 1996. Delargy previously was controller at Long Painting Company and a senior accountant at Konigsberg & Wolf CPA's, both of Seattle. Garces served as a special project coordinator with the Seattle SuperSonics and interned at Bondo & Remer Creative Marketing of Seattle. Low previously worked for Pacific Northwest, Seattle, Alaska Airlines and Nine (KCTS-TV) magazines. Wright, who owns a design and computer graphics business, formerly was a production manager at Form Graphics, Inc. of Seattle. Vibber joined HMG from LeGros, Buchanan & Paul, a Seattle law firm. Campagna formerly was marketing director at Paper Moon Design in Phoenix.
