PN&D

Gary Watters has joined the staff of Peratrovich, Nottingham & Drage, Inc. (PN&D). He is working in the Seattle office as leader of general civil design and environmental permitting for the Port of Edmonds South Marina Improvement project. Watters has developed professional specialties water quality studies, storm water conveyance and treatment systems, pipe outfall dispersion zones, and hydraulic computer modeling.

Graham & Dunn

The Seattle law firm of Graham & Dunn has named Robert Bergquist as a shareholder, and Taraneh Maghame has joined the firm's litigation group as an associate. Bergquist counsels businesses in acquisitions, financings and other corporate matters with an emphasis on hospitality, communications and technology-based companies. Maghame focuses her practice on commercial litigation involving intellectual property matters.

Perkins Coie

As a result of its merger with the Denver antitrust firm of Musgrave & Theis, the Seattle law firm of Perkins Coie has opened a new office in Denver. The office will open on January 1st, benefiting Perkins Coie clients in the telecommunications industry and other clients with interests in that region. Partners Bobbee Musgrave and Larry Theis, along with two associates and two administrative staff members, will join Perkins Coie's twelfth office. Musgrave concentrates her practice in antitrust, business torts, commercial disputes, constitutional law, employment law, health cases and unfair competition. Theis, a former chief of the Colorado Attorney General's Antitrust Section, concentrates his practice in trials and appeals, commercial litigation: antitrust, unfair competition, civil rights, employment litigation, health care, trade regulation, lender liability and telecommunications.

Geraghty & Miller releases remediation book

DENVER -- The book Remediation Engineering: Design Concepts by Suthan Suthersan is now available. It is the latest volume in the Geraghty & Miller Environmental Science and Engineering Series. Suthersan wrote the book for remediation design engineers, scientists, regulatory specialists and project managers responsible for site cleanups. Suthersan is vice president and director of remediation engineering at Geraghty & Miller. The 384-page book discusses the evolution of remediation technologies, contains figures to help readers visualize technologies, includes theories and actual design of systems, offers rules-of-thumb for dealing with emerging remediation technologies and provides cost-benefit analyses within the changing regulatory framework. Advanced Radio Telecom

Advanced Radio Telecom (ART), a wireless broadband telecommunications company, has promoted Richard Shields to senior vice president , technical operations, and Timothy Marshall to director, program management. Shields will be responsible for managing and directing the engineering and field services, network operations and technology development departments. Marshall will coordinate operational systems development for ART's technical functions and managing quality assurance and policies, procedures, and standards.

Pacific Northwest National Laboratory

Marv Clement, manager of the office of research and technology applications at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, has received the Lifetime Achievement Award in Technology Transfer from the Technology Utilization Foundation and the Federal Laboratory Consortium. The award is presented to individuals in government-related work who have, throughout their careers, made important strides in transferring government-developed technology to the private sector and found innovative ways to successfully commercialize new and pathbreaking technologies. The award recognizes Clement's contributions to technology transfer efforts at Pacific Northwest, within the national laboratory system and across the country. Clement has established 100 Cooperative Research and Development Agreements between the laboratory and private industry, crafted unique multicompany CRADAs for the U.S. Council for Automotive Research and championed Pacific Northwest's innovative Entrepreneurial Leave of Absence program, which encourages staff to license and commercialize laboratory technologies.

Merwin Productions, a Seattle film and video production company, has added three new positions to its corporate communications team. Andrew Baker joins as the digital and animation designer, Juli Morser will act as the agency and corporate executive producer and Cora Edmonds will be the executive producer for the technology division. Merwin produces corporate and public policy film and video projects throughout the U.S., Asia, and the British Isles.
