Cable Plus, a Bellevue-based provider of integrated cable television, telephone and alarm systems to multi-family housing units, has acquired Dallas-based Multi Technology Services. MTS provides cable and telephone services to multi-family housing units in the South and Southwest. Cable Plus has now acquired the rights to provide telecommunication services to nearly 300,000 apartment units nationwide. Cable Plus was founded in 1989 by a group of senior executives from McCaw Communications, including Craig McCaw.

W.W. Grainger, a national distributor of maintenance, repair and operating supplies, will open a new branch in Everett, located at 3115 Pacific Ave. The branch will be Grainger's first in Everett and its fifth in the greater Seattle area. CourtLink, a provider of electronic access to the nation's court records, has added the U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals to its service. CourtLink, headquartered in Bellevue, provides access to more than 425 court systems throughout the United States. Five local real estate brokers have joined to form a new brokerage firm called Broderick Group, Inc. Headquartered in downtown Bellevue, the firm's principals are John Black, of John R. Black & Associates, and CB Commercial veterans Jeff Watson, Jim Kinerk, Paul Jerue and Paul Sweeney. All have been among the top 10 producers in CB's Bellevue office since 1992. The Broderick Group will focus on serving landlords and tenants in leasing and sales of office and high-tech properties. Other members of the firm are Matt Barthels, from John R. Black & Associates; and Jason Furr, Chris Langer and Jamie Shanks, of CB. Langer was CB's top performing newcomer in the Puget Sound region in 1997.

Scott Bourne Photography & Digital Imaging recently opened for business on the top floor of Tacoma's Old City Hall, Suite 500. Bourne specializes in commercial, stock and fine art photography. New digital services will also be featured in the Tacoma studio. Bourne is the founder of several new media ventures including the f64 Virtual Photo Gallery, and Photo Diary Workshops & Expeditions, a company that leads week-long photo trips to Mount Rainier.
Upline Group has been selected by the Washington Department of Licensing to modernize the Wang imaging system in the Driver Responsibility Unit of its Driver Services Division. Upline will improve performance of the imaging system's scanner subsystem by integrating equipment and software. Upline Group is an Everett-based consulting firm that manages information systems, with a specialty in upgrading legacy systems.
Leslie McFarlane has been promoted to administrative manager of the Bellevue office of Norris, Beggs & Simpson. McFarlane previously worked as the company's research manager in Portland. In Bellevue, she will supervise support staff as well as training, budgeting, telecommunications, administration and vendor relations.
First American Properties, Inc., which represents retail tenants and handles surplus property dispositions, is relocating its office to 5801 Soundview Drive in Gig Harbor. The company's retail clients include OfficeMax, Egghead Software and Al's Auto Supply; disposition assignments include Ernst Home Center, Incredible Universe, Best Products and Safeway.
