Peter D. Pedersen has been promoted to the level of vice president at WHaM Communications. Pedersen joined the company in 1993 as an account executive after graduating magna cum laude at the University of Washington. Pedersen managed the launch of Amazon.com in 1994, and now supervises the Nissan North America and Washington State Lottery accounts for the agency. WHam has been awarded a large assignment by the Washington State Department of Revenue. The firm will develop and implement a strategic marketing plan for the state's new ELF electronic tax filing and payment system.

Unimark Construction Co. has named Marc Erlandson senior project manager. Erlandson will help manage the company's special projects division and will emphasize healthcare and biotechnology. He has 15 years of industry experience and most recently worked as a project manager for McCarthy. He holds a construction management degree from the University of Washington.
Renton Technical College graduate student Hai Van Ngo recently won first place in the post-secondary category of the 1997-98 Mastercam Wildest Parts Competition. Ngo used skills learned in the college's two-year machine technology program to produce his winning tire rack, cube, oil cap and fishing pole handle. The competition was sponsored by Gig Harbor-based CNC Software, maker of the Mastercam computer program for the machine industry.

Michael Benoit, RPA, has joined Unico Properties as property manager of the University of Washington-owned Metropolitan Tract in downtown Seattle. He most recently was property manager for Bentall USA in Bellevue, and he has worked for Colliers Real Estate Services in Seattle. Properties on the 10-acre tract include Rainier Tower, Financial Center and IBM Building.
RE/MAX International has announced a joint marketing and web services agreement with RealSelect, operator of realtor.com. Under terms of the agreement, RealSelect becomes the preferrred web-related vendor for RE/MAX, which in return recommends and promotes RealSelect and realtor.com products and services to brokers and sales associates. By the end of the year, home shoppers performing a listing search on the RE/MAX site will tap into the realtor.com database for new and resale homes for sale by RE/MAX affiliates. The realtor.com site receives 3.8 million hits each month and has 1.3 million real estate listings.
The 10th-annual Advanced Conference on Commercial Real Estate Leases will be Dec. 3-4 at Cavanaugh's Inn in downtown Seattle. The seminar will provide practical information for real estate lawyers, brokers, lenders, landlords and tenants, according to program co-chairs William H. Block of Buck & Gordon and Andrew A. Guy of Bogle & Gates. The state Bar Association has approved the conference for 14 general and 1 ethics CLE credits and the state Real Estate Commission has approved it for 16 RE clock hours and 13.5 appraiser credits. William V. Taylor has joined the Seattle office of Foster Pepper & Shefelman as of counsel practicing in the corporate finance group. Jordan J. Breslow has joined as co-chair of the firm's intellectual property practice group.
Kindred Communications, a Bellevue-based internet marketing communications firm, has hired Robert Holmes as director of technology services, and Travis Fullerton and director of technical programs. Holmes formerly served as vice president and director of production for Free Range Media. Fullerton formerly served as general manager of Digital Evolution. Sal Celis was added as creative director and Donna Fullerton was added as director of strategic marketing programs. Lori Koidahl was promoted to director of strategic marketing programs, Michelle Steinberger to director of business development and client relations, and John Ellard to director of strategic event services.
Pacific Edge Software Inc., a Bellevue-based publisher of advanced enterprise business planning applications, has joined in a partnership with Pinnacle Management Systems Inc., an international project management consulting and implementation services company. Pinnacle will provide sales and implementation consulting services to help organizations maximize use of Pacific Edge software products.
