Quinton, a Bothell-based provider of cardiology products focused on the diagnosis and treatment of cardiac disease, announced that chief operating officer John Hinson has been named president of the company. Hinson's primary focus is to complete development of new products for each of the company's franchise markets during the next 12 months.
Microsoft announced that Erik Renaud will join the company as its vice president of sales and service for its U.S. Central region. Based in Minneapolis, Renaud will manage Microsoft's sales teams in this 15-state region. Renaud was most recently vice president of sales and business development for Espira, an e-commerce security company.
Appliant.com, a Seattle-based management service provider that delivers end-to-end management of Internet infrastructure performance, announced the promotion of Patrick Joyce to vice president of sales and strategic alliances. Joyce, formerly Appliant's director of strategic alliances, is responsible for the formulation and execution of Appliant's direct and channel sales strategy, business alliance strategy, and customer relationship management.

Kendra Conley has joined the Seattle Home Show management team. Conley's responsibilities will focus on exhibitor space sales and sales on the show's Internet site, seattlehomeshow.com. The Seattle Home Show produces spring and fall home shows in the Stadium Exhibition Center.

Lake Forest Park Water District in King County recently purchased WaterWare, a customer management, billing and accounting software system from Information Architects, a Poulsbo-based software firm. WaterWare is Microsoft Windows-based software written especially for managing utility customers. The installation process by Information Architects includes onsite configuration, data conversion, training, custom statements and reports, barcoding and graphs and meter reader interfaces.

Jeff Phillips has joined Boxwood, a Seattle architectural firm, as an intern architect. He is working on the Stillwater Creek Vineyard visitor center in Royal City, Wash., and is creating 3-D computer models of the McClellan Street light rail transit station in Seattle.
M. Reza Agahian has been promoted to principal at McLellan & Copenhagen LLC, a Seattle firm specializing in scientific laboratory design. He has more than 11 years experience with the company in the planning, design and construction administration of scientific research and teaching facilities. His current projects include the University of California's Riverside Physical Science Building and the University of British Columbia's Michael Smith Building Vancouver.
Mark Osborn, who has 20 years of professional experience, has been promoted to associate principal. His projects include Millennium Pharmaceuticals' genomic research building in Cambridge, Mass., and the National Marine Fisheries Service Honolulu laboratory renewal project in Honolulu, Hawaii.
Michele Brittany, who has been with the firm for one year, has been promoted to business development. She is managing the marketing department.

Immunex Corp., a Seattle-based biopharmaceutical company, announced the promotions of Robert Bettencourt as vice president of managed care, Edison Russell as vice president of specialty therapeutics sales, and Michael Ambielli as senior director of commercial operations. Bettencourt will be responsible for building strategic alliances with managed care business partners. Russell will focus on sales initiatives for Leukine, Novantrone, and other Immunex specialty therapeutics products. A new commercial operations group has been created, headed by Ambielli. This group will provide support to both the specialty therapeutics and Enbrel franchises.
Hablador, a Seattle-based company specializing in enterprise-level Web-content management, announced that Barbara Thompson has joined its executive team as vice president of administration. Thompson has more than 15 years of software industry experience, including a five-year stint with one of Seattle's first Internet companies, Starwave/Infoseek.
