With 9.0, AOL has finally caught up

    NEW YORK -- Finally, I can read and write e-mail on America Online without feeling as if I'm playing with a toy.

    In its latest version, AOL's software has grown up, no longer favoring simplicity over versatility. A companion program called AOL Communicator has even more flexibility, matching features found in many standalone e-mail programs.
