SEATTLE — The Museum of Flight and the Burke Museum are collaborating on a new exhibit called “How Birds Fly” that opens April 11 at the Museum of Flight.
The exhibit looks at the beauty and wonder of bird flight in relation to aviation, and blends the MOF's aeronautical expertise with ornithological resources from the Burke, such as bird skeletons, feathers, wings and photographs by guest curator Dr. Peter Cavanagh. Cavanagh is a birder, photographer and University of Washington biomechanist. He will give a public lecture at the exhibit April 11 at 2 p.m.
The exhibit explores the evolution, anatomy and behavior of birds, and examines their influence on human flight — from Leonardo da Vinci and the Wright brothers, to aerospace engineers at work today.
The exhibit closes Sept. 7.
