SEATTLE — SIFF is presenting the seventh annual Cinema Italian Style at SIFF Cinema Uptown from Nov. 12 to 19, with 15 films by some of the biggest names in Italian cinema.
There will be a mix of comedy, documentary and drama. Films will include David di Donatello's “God Willing,” and actor/director Edoardo Leo's comedy “The Legendary Giulia and Other Miracles.” There will be two films from the Taviani Brothers: a new restoration of their Oscar winner “The Night of Shooting Stars” and their new film “Wondrous Boccaccio.”
Cristina Comencini's screwball comedy “Latin Lover” starring Virna Lisi in her final screen appearance, and cult master Claudio Caligari's final film “Don't Be Bad” are also on the schedule.
Opening night is a drama called “My Mother” from director Nanni Moretti. It stars Margherita Buy as a film director who is juggling her mother's illness, her daughter's adolescence, and a brash American actor played by John Turturro.
Several stars and filmmakers will attend festival events.
