After Hours: Ray Troll's band plays the aquarium

Ray Troll is a long-time Northwest artist best known for “fin” art, but his Ketchikan band plays “neo-folk n’ fish-rock” and promises a “sockeyedelic” light show.

SEATTLE — Did you ever want to rock out with rockfish and shimmy with salmon? Then you're in luck because Ray Troll and the Ratfish Wranglers from Ketchikan will play live at the Seattle Aquarium Feb. 23 starting at 8 p.m.

Troll is a long-time Northwest artist best known for his “fin” art. It's part scientific illustration, and part humor and irreverence. You probably have one of his classic T shirts. Troll and some artist-musician friends, Russell Wodehouse and Shauna Lee, started playing together years ago and are still hitting the stage with what they call “sub-aquatic neo-folk n' fish-rock.”

Seattle Aquarium calls it a fun and uniquely Alaskan show, complete with a “sockeyedelic” light show.

“We'll be playing in front of the big Window on Washington Waters exhibit at the Seattle Aquarium, one of my favorite places on the planet,” says Troll. He promises a magical evening because actual salmon and rockfish will watching, and his son's band, “The Amish Robots,” will be opening.

Tickets are $15 at www.seattleaquarium.org or $20 at the door.
