SEATTLE — Brian Reed is the host and co-creator of the hit podcast “S-Town,” which grew out of the radio show “This American Life.” Reed will speak here Sunday at Benaroya Hall, starting at 7:30 p.m. His talk is called “Creating S-Town: A New Way to Tell a Story with Brian Reed.”
Seattle Symphony said in a press release that “S-Town” is “rigorously reported and entirely true,” and feels like reading a masterful novel. Reed will walk the audience through the process of how he and his collaborators developed a new kind of storytelling by merging techniques from literature and journalism. The story is about a murder investigation that unearths other mysteries in a small Alabama town.
The podcast broke records by reaching 40 million downloads in its first month. Reed will share audio outtakes and reporting details in his talk that were not in the final version of “S-Town.”
Tickets start at $30 and are available at www.seattlesymphony.org .
