Q. Sure, you can punch a shark without getting punched back. But under the circumstances, that would be the least of your worries, right?
A. Marine biologist Ben Ruttenberg was scuba diving in Galapagos studying geographical arrays in damselfish, as he told Jenny Blain in Discover magazine. Common to that part of the world are three species of sharks, none of which are usually very threatening. But on one particular occasion, Ruttenberg and his colleagues were in 25 feet of water counting juvenile fish when suddenly he noticed a very large shark in front of him, heading right for him. “A few things went through my mind. The first was, wow, that's a very large shark. Second, it's coming right for me; that's very unusual here.”
