Strange But True!

Q. When can kids having lots of active, fast-paced fun be harnessed to generate electricity that can power a light to read or do homework?

A. When they are supplied with Soccket balls and Pulse jump ropes made by the New York-based company Uncharted Play (UP), whose focus is to get them into the hands of kids in underdeveloped countries, says Jim Sullivan in Discover magazine. Play is movement and requires plenty of energy; kinetic energy can be transferred into electricity, the same way a self-winding watch uses the movement of the wearer to wind itself up.
