Prior to joining AIA Seattle, she was development officer at NatureBridge, director of membership and development at Seattle Audubon Society, and corporations and foundations director at Seattle Children's Theatre.

Haapala

Mahlum architecture firm named Kurt Haapala as a principal and Brian Jonas, Rene Berndt, David Perzik and Nancy Harmon as associates. Haapala has nearly 18 years of experience in architecture, has co-authored white papers on the 2030 Challenge, and he lectures on higher education projects. He was project lead for Ackerman Hall at Western Oregon University, a LEED platinum residence hall. Jonas is part of the firm's higher education studio. Berndt is in the pre K-12 education studio. Perzik is in the health care studio, and Harmon is controller.

Baldwin

Jacobs Associates civil engineering firm promoted Bob Baldwin and Joe Schrank to associate in the Seattle office. Baldwin has provided project management for 15 years for developers, contractors and a large public owner, as well as software consulting. Schrank has 12 years of experience in rock mechanics and geotechnical engineering, focusing on railroad tunnel rehab, trenchless pipeline crossings and geotechnical field investigations.

Otak hired JR Goodman as a civil engineering designer in the Kirkland office. He has experience in roadway and utility design for municipal projects. He was with Myers Engineering, Consulting Engineers in Oklahoma City. He is working on projects for Island County, Redmond and the University of Washington. Otak provides urban design, architecture, planning and engineering.

Dehal

Indy Dehal and Chad Schmidt were promoted to associate at ALSC Architects. Dehal has been with ALSC since 2000, and is now design lead for the Washington State University football operations facility. Schmidt is an architect and project manager for that facility. ALSC provides planning and design, with offices in Spokane and Coeur d'Alene.

Transpo Group

Transpo Group promoted Jon Pascal, Dan McKinney, Mike Swenson and Kevin Collins to principals to help manage strategic direction and client relationships. The firm provides transportation planning, engineering and technology consulting. Corporate headquarters are in Kirkland and international headquarters are in Abu Dhabi.

Professional Service Industries hired Scott Palmer as vice president overseeing Washington operations and R. Steven Padilla as an environmental project manager in the Mountlake Terrace office. Palmer has more than 12 years of experience developing clients, opening markets and mentoring employees. Padilla previously worked for PSI. He has a background in marketing and sales, environmental field work, project management, training and business planning. PSI is an engineering, consulting and testing firm.

Sovereign Consulting

Sovereign Consulting hired Janice Vinoya as an office administrator and Gary Andres as a senior hydrogeologist in Seattle. Vinoya has nearly 10 years of experience in administration, human resources and marketing/public relations support. Andres has more than 25 years of hydrogeologic, water resources and environmental project experience. He will provide modeling support and help develop new business for water supply and mine projects. Sovereign is a New Jersey-based environmental consulting firm.
