Architecture and design firm Perkins+Will promoted eight people in Seattle. Kay Kornovich was appointed to the board of directors. Anthony Gianopoulos and Brad Hinthorne were promoted to principal, Erik Mott to design principal, Brodie Bain to associate principal, Larry Leland and Carsten Stinn to senior associate and Marie Henson to associate. Kornovich is managing director of the Seattle office and leads the region's science and technology practice. Gianopoulos is director of operations in Seattle. He has 20 years of experience and leads many higher education projects. Hinthorne has more than 25 years of experience in master planning, programming and design for public and private clients. He also leads business development. Mott has 23 years of experience on urban and campus projects, with a focus on placemaking and design. Bain has led higher education and campus planning projects. Leland is a leader in technical design. Stinn is involved in design and management leadership. Henson has experience in medical planning and interior design. Perkins+Will has 24 offices. The 67-person Seattle office works on corporate, commercial, civic, science, technology, health care and higher education projects.

HDR

Larson

Lisa Larson joined HDR as Northwest hydropower strategic planning and client development lead for utilities, based in Seattle. Larson will do strategic planning, business development, program management, hydraulic design and modeling support. She is an engineer with 20 years of experience, most recently as Seattle operations manager with McMillen, LLC. HDR has 8,500 employees in more than 200 locations around the world.

Aegis Engineering

Aegis Engineering hired Adrian de Booy as a fire protection consultant. De Booy has more than nine years of experience in the fire/life safety field, including performance-based design and alternative building code solutions. Aegis provides fire protection engineering and building code consulting.

White

Otak hired Francesca White as a water resources engineering designer and Matt Scarsella as a civil engineering designer in the Kirkland office. White works on site plans, drainage plans, construction drawings and permitting, with projects for Woodinville, Everett and Snohomish County. Scarsella has worked on roadways, utilities and sidewalk projects. Otak is an urban design, architecture, planning and engineering firm.

Cary Kopczynski & Co.

Cary Kopczynski & Co. promoted Ron Mirahsani to principal, and Andy Tu and Jason Thome to senior project engineers. It hired Angelia Tanamal as a design engineer, Angela Wang as a BIM modeler, and Stephanie Vincent and Kellie Filips as engineering interns. Mirahsani has 25 years experience in structural and civil engineering, 13 with CKC. He will take on more client relations and project team management work. He is managing 1200 South Figueroa, two 35-story residential towers in Los Angeles; and Golden Nugget, a casino with two hotel towers in Lake Charles, Louisiana. Tu has 11 years of experience as an engineer, seven with CKC. He is working on the Lincoln Square expansion in Bellevue and the University Village QFC parking structure. Thome has eight years of experience as an engineer, seven with CKC. He is working on Potala Tower, a residential project on Fourth Avenue in Seattle; and on a residential tower for Continental Properties at Second and Virginia in Seattle. Tanamal has four years of experience as an engineer. She is working on Potala Tower and 1200 South Figueroa. Wang has two years of experience with BIM and worked as a structural engineer in China. She is working on Lincoln Square. Vincent is pursuing a bachelor's in civil engineering at Washington State University. Filips is pursuing a bachelor's in civil engineering at Marquette University. CKC is a Bellevue-based structural engineering firm.

The Blueline Group

The Blueline Group hired Alex Sennikov as a drafter. Sennikov holds a degree in construction management from Yulatorovsk Technical College in Russia and an associate of applied science in civil engineering graphics from Lake Washington Technical College. The Blueline Group provides civil engineering and land development consulting services.

Sclater Architects

Smith

Seattle-based Sclater Architects hired Bradley R. Smith as associate principal. Smith worked for Sclater earlier in his career. His projects included the Hyatt Regency Bellevue, Lincoln Square and Bellevue Arts Museum. He holds an associate certification from the Design-Build Institute of America. Sclater said it plans to do more design-build projects.

HDR

Duff

HDR hired Phil Duff as vice president and managing principal of the architecture office in Seattle. Duff will oversee operations and business development, and design of health care, science, technology and civic projects in the Northwest. He has 27 years in the industry, most recently as a health care studio practice leader for NBBJ in Seattle. Marjorie Brown, who previously was managing principal of HDR's Seattle office, continues as health care principal, responsible for expanding HDR's presence in health architecture and design in the Northwest. HDR has 190 offices globally. It provides architecture or engineering in some offices, and both services in others. The Seattle architecture office was started in 2006 to support international design work. For the first few years, it provided design support for Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi Hospital in the United Arab Emirates. Since then it has designed a number of local projects, including the new VA Puget Sound ER in Seattle.

Farallon Consulting

Farallon Consulting hired Beth Padgett as a project geologist in its Issaquah headquarters. Padgett has 10 years of environmental consulting experience. She manages due diligence, stormwater and remediation projects. Farallon is an environmental consulting firm with other offices in Seattle and Bellingham; Portland; and Sacramento and Oakland, Calif.

Tabert

CG Engineering hired Stephan Tabert and Robert (Morgan) Kruse as structural engineers-in-training. Tabert graduated from Washington State University's civil and environmental engineering program and holds an EIT certification in Washington. He worked at Tabert Homes and interned in traffic engineering with Whatcom County. Kruse holds a masters of civil engineering from Oregon State University and an EIT certification in Oregon. He has worked for ZCS Engineering as an engineering technician. CG is an Edmonds-based civil and structural engineering firm.

MLA Engineering

Calderon

Shafi

MLA Engineering hired Noman Shafi as a senior engineer and Luis Calderon as a design engineer. Shafi has over 15 years of experience on three continents doing industrial, retail, residential and commercial projects. Calderon previously worked in Michigan on educational, industrial and commercial projects. Their projects will include the new Doha Zoo in Qatar and an apartment building at Eastlake and Yale in Seattle. MLA is a Seattle-based structural engineering firm.

Elliott Bay Design Group

Ladd

Seattle-based Elliott Bay Design Group hired Jen Ladd as part-time human resources director. Ladd was formerly a consultant for the firm and has 18-plus years of experience in management development, succession planning, employee engagement, change management, training and coaching. She will establish the human resources department, and help with recruiting at the naval architecture and marine engineering firm.

Golder Associates

Golder Associates promoted Alan Keizur to principal and Brian Willman, Peter Fahringer, Jessica Cote and Sue Robinson to associate. Keizur is a senior civil engineer in the Redmond office who specializes in quantitative risk assessment and analysis of infrastructure projects and natural systems. His projects involve highway and transit improvements, water management for mining and oil and gas operations, and nuclear waste storage. Willman is a senior consultant in the Portland office with 20 years of experience in geotechnical engineering, civil design and solid waste engineering. Fahringer is a senior geophysicist and the geophysics group leader in Redmond. His projects have taken him to every continent except Antarctica. Cote is a senior coastal and ocean engineer in Redmond with almost 15 years of experience leading projects, including in Peru, Colombia, Haiti, the Arctic and Tanzania. Robinson works in the Redmond office, where she leads the U.S. practice in human/ecological toxicology and risk assessment. She has 25 years of experience, four at Golder. Golder is a global ground engineering and environmental consulting firm with 8,000 employees in about 180 offices.
