In Seattle, Aspect Consulting hired Dave Cook as a principal geologist and Jessica Smith as a senior geologist. In Yakima, it hired Allan Covell as an engineering designer. Cook has led environmental projects, including the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation headquarters, and Amazon.com buildings in South Lake Union and the Denny Triangle. Smith is an environmental project manager with experience in due diligence, site assessment and remediation of brownfield sites. Covell has over 15 years of experience as an engineering drafter/designer, and a background in civil, mechanical, structural, electrical and architectural engineering, field surveying and water system modeling. Aspect provides environmental, geotechnical and water resource services, with Washington and Oregon offices.

In Spokane, ALSC Architects hired Rob Wiese as a project architect. Wiese is working on improvements to Kittitas County Fairgrounds in Ellensburg. ALSC provides planning and design, with an office also in Coeur d'Alene.

Edmonds-based Landau Associates hired Meghan Veilleux as a staff engineer-in-training in the permitting and compliance group. She has a bachelor's in civil and environmental engineering from the University of Washington. Landau provides geotechnical and environmental engineering, remediation and permitting and compliance services.

SCJ Alliance

In Lacey, SCJ Alliance hired Elisabeth Wooton as a transportation planner. Wooton has seven years of transportation planning experience. Previously, she was a pedestrian and bicycle planner for New York City's Department of Transportation. SCJ provides civil engineering, transportation planning and design, environmental and urban planning, landscape architecture and design, and public outreach.

In Redmond, Otak hired Ken Swindaman as the new survey department manager and Katlyn Christenson as an engineering designer. Swindaman has managed surveying projects for local engineering firms and public agencies for over 25 years. In addition to management duties, Swindaman is working on survey projects for Everett, Woodinville and Bothell. Christenson has experience with roadway design, low impact development and green infrastructure design, structural analysis and construction management. She is working on Hayes Street CSO project for Everett. Otak is an urban design, architecture, planning and engineering firm.

In Seattle, Shannon & Wilson hired Meg Strong as vice president and environmental services group leader. Strong is a geologist/hydrogeologist with 26 years in the environmental industry. Her experience includes managing, investigating and providing strategy for environmental issues for corporations and municipalities. Shannon & Wilson is a geotechnical and environmental engineering company, with 12 offices in the U.S.

SSA Acoustics

Acoustical consultant Joel Esselstrom has returned to SSA Acoustics after traveling in Southeast Asia. Esselstrom has a background in acoustical and architectural design. He has over eight years of experience providing acoustical recommendations and solutions for projects.

Seattle-based design firm Olson Kundig hired Vikram Sami as director of building performance to focus on sustainable design and energy performance. Sami has over 16 years of experience in architecture. He works with design teams to integrate analyses of daylight, energy performance and thermal comfort into the design process. He was adjunct faculty at Georgia Institute of Technology and a past chair of the AIA Atlanta COTE Energy Taskforce.

In Seattle, Gensler hired Jacob Simons as director of design strategy. Simons will lead strategic engagement with clients, focusing on process design, business strategy, experience design and change management. He was experience design director at NBBJ, working with clients including Google, Microsoft and Kaiser Permanente. Gensler is a global architecture, design and planning firm.

Studio Meng Strazzara, a Seattle-based architecture and design firm, hired Debora Ashland as director and project architect, and R.J. Van Liere as project architect. Ashland will lead a number of public projects. She has 18 years of experience at Sound Transit, the last six as director of architecture and art. Before that, she was with Edmonds School District's capital projects office. Van Liere will work in the education and mixed-use studios. He was with DLR Group for 10 years, focusing on office, education, industrial and institutional projects.

In Seattle, BCRA hired Jon McNamara as the new landscape architecture lead. McNamara has over 17 years of experience in urban design, master planning, K-12 and college campuses, sports fields and mixed-use projects. He worked at Weisman Design Group and The Portico Group, where he was project manager on the African Adventure exhibit at Fresno Chaffee Zoo. BCRA is an architecture and engineering firm.

Conway holds a bachelor in architecture from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. She has graphic design, research and presentation experience and is on the Mount Si High School project team. Webber is on the health care team. He worked at Blair + Mui Architects in New York and Kalispell Regional Healthcare on health care projects. Madawela maintains financial records for design projects, manages accounts receivable and coordinates billings. She holds a bachelor of business administration from Wichita State University. Shupe was operations manager for the Downtown Athletic Club in Eugene, Oregon. She has over nine years of customer service experience. NAC provides planning, design, engineering, and capital facilities consulting services.

FFA Architecture and Interiors

Portland-based FFA Architecture and Interiors hired Joseph Storr as a project architect. Storr has over eight years of experience in Chicago and Portland on office building repositionings, mixed-use and workplace design. He is working on expansion of the Benton Center Campus for Linn-Benton Community College in Corvallis. FFA provides architecture, planning, historic preservation and interior design.
