Seattle-based Waterways Cruises hired Katie Abercrombie as sales coordinator. Abercrombie joins Waterways Cruises after completing a bachelors of arts degree in recreation and leisure services. Waterways Cruises offers dinner cruises, brunch cruises, corporate charters and weddings aboard its luxurious yachts.

Seattle-based Hark hired Rajeev Chand as director of product development. Chand worked at Microsoft leading the core and engagement teams for the Bing website. Hark offers a platform for sound bites to create and share audio on devices or social networks.
South Sound 911, the agency building an emergency communications system, named its first executive director: Andrew Neiditz. He has served as Lakewood's city manager since 2005. The contract will run for three years, with a two-year extension available. South Sound 911 provides 9-1-1 call receiving, dispatching and emergency communications in Pierce County.

The energy and environmental law firm Marten Law hired Richard Allan as partner in the Portland office. Allan has 20 years of Northwest business and environmental experience, and was a partner with Ball Janik.

Regional law firm Schwabe, Williamson & Wyatt named Denise Gaskin as chief operating officer in the Portland office. Gaskin was chief operating officer for the Van Winkle Law Firm in Asheville, N.C.
Oregon Business magazine editor-in-chief Robin Doussard has resigned her position to become director of communications for The Children's Institute, a Portland-based nonprofit. Doussard, a journalist with more than 30 years of experience, has been the editor of Oregon Business Magazine for seven years.

Bellevue-based Symetra Life Insurance appointed Meg Skinner as senior vice president of individual life distribution. Skinner was executive vice president and chief distribution officer at Guardian Life Insurance Companies. Symetra is a diversified financial services company that provides employee benefits, annuities and life insurance.
Seattle-based Big Fish promoted Will O'Brien to senior vice president of corporate and business development. O'Brien has been with Big Fish for three years and led the acquisition of Self Aware Games and the launch of Big Fish Unlimited. Big Fish offers more than 3,000 casual games and more than 250 unique games for mobile devices.
The Port of Everett's chief financial officer, Karen Clements, announced her retirement in September. Clements has been with the port for 18 years. She holds the number three management position with 15 consecutive years of clean audits.
