Fickes is in the Seattle office as an attorney in the Litigation Practice Group, where he will focus on transportation, aviation, regulatory compliance and appellate litigation. Hulteng has rejoined the Portland office in the Litigation Practice Group. Murphy has rejoined the Seattle office in the Startups and Emerging Companies Practice Group, where he will focus on corporate, business and transactional matters. Schaer has joined the Seattle office in the Litigation Practice Group, where he will focus on securities and corporate governance litigation.

Chip Dobson of Mattawa and Shawn O'Brien of Moses Lake were elected trustees on the Columbia Basin Development League board effective Jan. 1, 2017. Dobson operates Rosebud Vineyards. O'Brien has worked for the city of Moses Lake Engineering Division for 24 years. The league supports the Columbia Basin Project and future development. Several trustees were re-elected to three-year terms: Orman Johnson, Connell; Jeff Schibel, Odessa; Alice Parker, Royal City; Matt Hawley, Pasco; Clark Kagele, Odessa; Reid Phillips, Ritzville; Dale Pomeroy, Warden; Eli Stahl, Ritzville; and Mark Stedman, Lincoln County.

King County

King County Executive Dow Constantine won a Public Officials of the Year award from Governing magazine. He will receive the award at a ceremony in Washington, D.C., on Nov. 30. The magazine honored eight people and singled out Constantine for using a data-driven approach in managing one of the nation's most populous counties.

Riddell Williams has added Kristen Howell to the firm. She handles corporate transactions, including entity formation, sales agreements, private offerings, bank financings, mergers and acquisitions, and investment vehicles for firms in technology, financial services, and retail fields. Howell was general counsel for an investment management firm and corporate counsel for a tech company.

Aronson Security Group in Renton said Dan Nielsen, a 30-year industry veteran in risk, resilience and security, has joined its Enterprise Security Risk Group as a principal consultant. He works on fraud investigations and computer related crimes, and was a special agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation focused on computer-based crimes as well as bank, mortgage and wire fraud. Nielson was also head of security for NW Natural, a gas utility in Oregon.

University of Puget Sound

Laura Martin-Fedich has been named vice president for enrollment at University of Puget Sound, starting Jan. 17. She now works at Agnes Scott College in Decatur, Georgia, as vice president for enrollment, and dean of admissions and financial aid.

REI

REI hired Raquel Karls as senior vice president of human resources. She was chief human resources officer at Outerwall and has also worked at Starbucks, Expedia and Pepsi. The nation's largest consumer co-op has more than 6 million active members and 149 stores in 36 states.

Wells Fargo Insurance

Wells Fargo Insurance, part of Wells Fargo & Co., named Mike Taylor senior vice president and managing director for Washington and Alaska. Taylor will focus on middle market and large corporate customers, and be based in Seattle. He began his insurance career at Willis, and worked for Wells Fargo as managing director in Phoenix.

Washington State Hospital Association

Washington State Hospital Association has hired Chris Bandoli as senior vice president for policy and advocacy. Bandoli has been with Regence BlueShield since 2007, serving as director of government affairs for five years. He replaces Cassie Sauer, who will become president and CEO in January, replacing Scott Bond, who retires at the end of year. WSHA represents more than 100 hospitals and health systems.
