Shafiq

In Portland, Cambia Health Solutions hired Faraz Shafiq as chief artificial intelligence officer. Shafiq has over 17 years of experience in strategy, engineering, analytics and product management. He was global head of data science at Verizon, and led product development at AT&T. Cambia provides regional health care plans.

Trupanion

Trupanion, a Seattle-based provider of medical insurance for cats and dogs, is making a management change: CFO Ian Moffat will head an initiative focusing on food's impact on pet health. Moffat's CFO functions are being handled by existing leadership, primarily TJ Houk and Margi Tooth. The company also appointed Jackie Davidson to its board. Davidson has more than 25 years of executive experience, most recently as CFO at Market Leader.

2019 Teacher of the Year

Robert Hand, a family and consumer sciences teacher at Mount Vernon High School, was selected 2019 Teacher of the Year in Washington. Hand has been teaching at the school since 2013. He will be considered for National Teacher of the Year. The winner will be announced next spring at the White House.

Jablonski

In Seattle, FisherBroyles hired Kevin Jablonski as a partner and registered patent attorney in the Intellectual Property Practice Group. Jablonski's practice includes IP licensing, copyrights and trademarks. He was a shareholder at Lane Powell in Seattle. FisherBroyles has 21 offices nationwide.

Lattice Semiconductor

In Portland, Lattice Semiconductor appointed Steve Douglass as corporate vice president of R&D. Douglass was corporate vice president of customer technology deployment at Xilinx in Silicon Valley. He has more than 30 years of experience developing programs for several markets, including communications, industrial, automotive, and test and measurement.

JND Legal Administration

Seattle-based JND Legal Administration acquired Lien Resolution Group, a Nanuet, New York, consultant working in health care lien settlements. The deal retains Lien Resolution's managing director Rachel Stoering as JND's COO for class action, mass tort and lien resolution. JND specializes in mass tort settlements. It has offices in California, Colorado, Minnesota, New York and Washington, D.C.

Jewish Federation of Greater Seattle

Samuel Klein is the new Jewish engagement director of the Jewish Federation of Greater Seattle. Klein was chief Jewish officer for the Jewish Community Center of San Francisco. Prior to that, he was director of Re-Imagining Jewish Education Through Art at Yeshiva University Museum in New York City and executive director of Bronfman Jewish Education Centre in Montreal.

LabConnect

Eric I. Richman was elected board chair for LabConnect, a Seattle-based provider of central laboratory and support services. Richman has more than 25 years of experience as a life science executive; he was a founding member of MedImmune, and president and CEO of PharmAthene. He succeeds Alain Chetrit, LabConnect co-founder and chairman, who becomes chairman emeritus.

Xnor.ai

Jon Gelsey has become CEO of Xnor.ai, a Seattle-based AI computing company for IoT devices. Gelsey was CEO at Auth0, a Bellevue-based identity-as-a-service provider, and was in charge of acquisitions and investments at Microsoft. He replaces Xnor founder Ali Farhadi, who is now chief experience officer.

Coastal Community Bank

Pamela Hammond retired from Coastal Community Bank in Everett. Hammond was executive vice president and chief credit and risk officer. She worked at the bank for over 13 years, leading the credit division through the Great Recession. Coastal will announce a successor in the coming weeks.
