In Seattle, Lease Crutcher Lewis hired Jerry Kessler as superintendent; Kate Legg as people services, senior generalist; Chad Tuthill as site safety coordinator; and Jordan Pierce, Keith Cox, Matt Smith, Josh Beloit and Moxie Oseland as project engineers. Kessler has 21 years of construction experience, with a focus on Class A tenant improvements. Legg has seven years of people services expertise in the U.S. and U.K. She holds a bachelor's degree in psychology from Penn State and a master's degree in human resources and employee relations from the University of Western Australia. Tuthill interned at Lewis last year while earning his bachelor's degree in safety and health management at Central Washington University. Pierce has three years of industry experience and holds a bachelor's degree in construction management and business administration from Western Carolina University. Cox holds a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from Michigan State University, and spent the past 4.5 years on jobs including the 520 Bridge replacement. Smith has five years of construction experience. He is a graduate of the construction management program at the University of Washington, where he was CM student of the year in 2012. Beloit served in the U.S. Navy police, then spent a decade operating equipment and working as a project engineer. He holds a certificate in construction management from Pierce College. Oseland recently earned a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from Gonzaga University. His past work has ranged from operating precision machine tools to an engineering internship at Boeing.

Simpson

Seattle-based Schuchart promoted Jake Simpson to carpenter foreman and Eleanor Kertzer to division accountant. Simpson has eight years of industry experience, completed the CITC apprenticeship program and the AGC STP program, and is a Schuchart designated safety leader. Kertzer joined Schuchart in 2015. She is now handling the Building Division and Microsoft accounts.


Roen Associates

Kodner

Roen Associates hired Rachel Kodner as business development and marketing manager. Kodner has a background in marketing for nonprofits and law firms, focusing on web design and rebranding efforts. She recently moved from Chicago to Spokane after receiving a full scholarship from Eastern Washington University, where she will teach undergraduate classes and receive her master's degree in creative writing. Roen is a construction cost management firm with offices in Seattle and Spokane.

CITC of Washington

Chapel

The Construction Industry Training Council of Washington hired Jack Chapel as education manager, and recently held its 2017 graduation ceremonies in both Bellevue and Spokane. Chapel is in charge of hiring and development of all CITC faculty, assisting with curriculum development, managing craft training programs, and assisting with facility expansion and development. He began his career as a carpenter in 1993 and has since held both construction and instruction positions, including a stint as education coordinator with the AGC San Diego Chapter. A total of 91 students graduated from six of CITC's 10 training programs. Outstanding Student of the Year awards were given to: Jacob A. Notman (carpentry), Jeremy J. Burtchet (heavy equipment operator), Dimitris A. Trapalis (HVAC), Tony L. Abernathy (painting), Shawn M. Chadwell (plumbing) and Joshua J. Davis (commercial electrical).

Weisberger

In Seattle, Skanska USA promoted Jay Weisberger to vice president of communications and Michael LeMieux to marketing manager. Weisberger joined Skanska in 2008 and is now overseeing communications for Skanska's western region, which includes offices in Arizona, California, Colorado, Oregon and Washington. He is a graduate of Alfred University, an accredited public relations practitioner and a LEED AP. LeMieux supported regional and national projects for six years as part of Skanska's marketing team. He holds a bachelor's degree from Gonzaga University.

Auburn Mechanical hired Justin Pritchett as Construction Division manager. Pritchett previously held preconstruction and operations roles for a national general contractor, and has experience working on multifamily, high-rise, commercial, public works, hospitality and critical facilities projects. He holds a bachelor's degree in construction management from Central Washington University.

Hermanson Co.

Sharp

Kent-based Hermanson Co. hired Brad Sharp as test and balance supervisor, specializing in commissioning and test-and-balance services. Sharp has earned over a dozen certifications including TAB Supervisor, Commissioning Supervisor and AHA Certified Healthcare Constructor. He has over 20 years of experience in mechanical construction on a variety of small to large projects, and completed an HVAC apprenticeship with the U.S. Air Force.

In Puyallup, Absher Construction Co. hired Larry Hutchinson and Mako Sakagami as project managers. Hutchinson spent the last 20 years working locally on a variety of projects, including multifamily, education, garage, retail, medical clinic and infrastructure. He holds a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from San Francisco State University. Sakagami is originally from Tokyo, where he worked for a Japanese general contractor for three years. In 2004 he moved to the U.S., where he earned a master's degree in construction management from the University of Washington.
