Everett-based general contractor Kirtley-Cole Associates added Jonathan Shelton and Kevin Brett as project engineers, Jack Adams as superintendent and Steve Hansen as senior project manager. Shelton holds bachelor's degrees in construction management from the University of Washington and Spanish from the University of Kansas. He also completed the International Masonry Institute's apprenticeship program for bricklayers. Brett holds a bachelor's degree in civil engineering with an emphasis in construction management from the University of Colorado and is a LEED Accredited Professional. Adams has 34 years of industry experience and holds a bachelor's degree in construction management from the UW. Hansen has 35 years of industry experience and holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from Washington State University.

Jody Miller Construction

Tacoma-based general contractor Jody Miller Construction hired Patrick Riggs as chief financial officer. Riggs has more than 19 years of experience in construction finance. He is a member of the Construction Financial Managers Association and has a master's degree in business with an emphasis in finance from the University of Puget Sound.

Junk King

Rick Fardig bought a Junk King franchise with a territory that covers most of King and Pierce counties. Junk King was founded in 2005 and is based in San Carlos, Calif. The company hauls and recycles for individual homeowners, businesses, realtors and property managers. All franchises have a 60 percent recycling and donations target. Fardig's operation is at 1809 Tacoma Point Drive E. in Lake Tapps.

Kerr Contractors

Woodburn, Ore.-based Kerr Contractors bought the milling division of Kodiak Pacific, also of Oregon. Kerr is a regional heavy-civil general contracting firm. As a result of the purchase, Kerr says it has become the largest road milling company in Oregon, and one of the largest in the Pacific Northwest. Kerr's milling division is headed by milling manager/estimator John Mengler.
