Lovorn

Monroe-based Canyon Creek Cabinet Co. appointed Rick Lovorn as vice president of operations for manufacturing. Lovorn has more than 30 years of experience in manufacturing and operations in both the cabinet and furniture industries. He was general manager and president for several cabinet manufacturers, and ran four furniture manufacturing plants.

South Seattle College

South Seattle College developed a bachelor's degree program in sustainable building management in partnership with Washington State University and Edmonds Community College. The program is a hybrid model — with 80 percent of coursework online and once-a-month Saturday meetings — that can be finished in six quarters. It focuses on building science, energy and building codes, and facility management. Training is lead by Victoria Hardy, who has 30 years of industry/education experience.

Milgard Windows & Doors

Hanley Wood's 2015 Builder brand study listed Tacoma-based Milgard Windows & Doors as the leading window and door brand for several major project categories in the western U.S. The study surveyed 1,128 builders, builder/developers and general contractors on brand use, familiarity and factors influencing brand selection.

Pacific Northwest CMAA

A seminar held earlier this month by the Pacific Northwest Chapter of the Construction Management Association of America raised nearly $10,000 in scholarship funding. The association's annual seminar focused on alternative project delivery.

The Seattle office of Abbott Construction hired Richard Miller as senior estimator and Jeff Baker and Scott Conrad as project managers. Miller has more than 25 years of estimating experience, and sits on the national standards committee of the American Society of Professional Estimators. Baker has more than 25 years of construction experience, with a focus on tenant improvements. Conrad has more than 20 years of industry experience, and is focusing on healthcare projects at Abbott.

Watts Constructors

Hansen

Anne Hansen joined the Gig Harbor office of Watts Constructors as project coordinator. Hansen spent six years as a retail lending consultant and two years as an accounts receivables representative. She attended Peninsula College.

Nutter Corp.

Woodside

Vancouver-basd Nutter Corp. promoted Jeff Woodside to president. Woodside has been with the company for 18 years, and is now overseeing all operations at the excavation and utility contractor. He reports to Chairman Jerry Nutter.

CITC of Washington

Hill

The Construction Industry Training Council of Washington hired Ken Hill as Eastern Washington regional coordinator, where he is responsible for CITC's newest facility in Spokane. Hill graduated from CITC and became a journeyman electrician in 1993. He eventually became president of Mastercraft Electric and then opened his own firm, KM Electric. He also has served on CITC's electrical apprenticeship committee since 1995 and has been an instructor for CITC since 2014.

NCCCO

Thom Sicklesteel of Sicklesteel Cranes in Mount Vernon was reelected board president of the National Commission for the Certification of Crane Operators. Sicklesteel joined the board in 2009 and has been president since 2012. NCCCO also reelected Peter Juhren of Morrow Equipment Co. in Salem, Oregon, as secretary/treasurer. Juhren has been on the board since 2011.

Milgard Windows & Doors

Tacoma-based Milgard Windows & Doors opened a manufacturing plant in Grand Prairie, Texas. Milgard has supplied the Texas market since 2010 with products made from plants in Denver, Phoenix and Tacoma.

Fresh Coat

Military veteran Kenneth Bartells opened a Fresh Coat residential and commercial painting franchise in Yelm that serves the South Sound region.
