The Seattle office of Andersen Construction hired Ben McCartt and Piper Hamill as project engineers in the Special Projects Division, Meredith Franklin as project coordinator, and Chad Sproule as field EHS coordinator in the safety department. McCartt has five years of industry experience and holds a bachelor's degree in construction management from Washington State University. Hamill has four years of industry experience and recently relocated from Colorado. Franklin is working on a redevelopment project in Yesler Terrace, and has worked for Seattle Housing Authority in the past. She holds a bachelor's degree in urban studies from the University of Washington. Sproule has 14 years of safety-related experience, and was a firefighter and Army combat medic. He holds a bachelor's degree from Boise State University.

Washington UTC

The state Utilities and Transportation Commission appointed Alan Rathbun as director of pipeline safety. Rathbun served as UTC pipeline safety director from 2003 until 2007, and returned to UTC in 2014 as a project manager. He holds a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from the University of Minnesota. UTC regulates 32 pipeline operators and more than 41,000 miles of hazardous liquid and natural gas pipelines.

Jessica Tibbets and Ephram Harsh joined the Gig Harbor office of Watts Constructors. Tibbets, a project manager, recently transferred from Watts' Guam office. She has 10 years of experience on federal government projects, and holds bachelor's and master's degrees in civil engineering from the University of California at Berkeley. Harsh, a project engineer, was a Watts intern. He recently earned a bachelor's degree in construction management from Washington State University.

AGC Education Foundation

The AGC Education Foundation announced its 2015-16 scholarship recipients. University of Washington students are: Jarrett Ermels of Seattle, Justin Grindol of Tumwater, Tracey Tran of Seattle and Tighe Urelius of Seattle. Central Washington University students are: Salvador Arellanes of Yakima, Rachael Evans of Ellensburg, Caleb Phillips of Maple Valley, Tanner Romo of Port Orchard and Brandon Williams of Auburn. Washington State University students are: Ryan Kirkpatrick of Spokane, Brad Neudorfer of Burien, Marshall Ruehl of Spokane and Connor Schneider of Moxee. Winners from other schools are Akiliu Ferede of Seattle (South Seattle College) and Michael Wolfenberger of Aberdeen (Grays Harbor College).
