SEATTLE -- The Elevated Transportation Co. executive committee voted yesterday to return $150,000 to the city of Seattle. The group received a one-time allocation of $6 million from the city to fulfill its two-year mission to craft a monorail proposal, as spelled out in an initiative passed by Seattle voters in November 2000.
"Because we are on schedule and under budget to complete the Seattle monorail plan in August for a November vote we wanted to take this action now," said Tom Weeks, ETC chairman.
Even after deducting $150,000 from the ETC’s budget, a planning contingency of $500,000 is still on the books.
