Keep Alaskan Way for freight, transit only, Steinbrueck says

  • He says the surface option will work if we discourage driving downtown, make street and transit improvements, and get cars off Alaskan Way.

    City Council member Peter Steinbrueck wants to leave the viaduct in place until improvements to surface streets and transit are made.

    When Peter Steinbrueck looks at Alaskan Way, he doesn't see a tunnel or a new elevated highway. He doesn't see cars at all.
