Design team pushes UW building to LEED gold

The 95,000-square-foot building is located on the western edge of campus, between the waterfront and the Burke Gilman Trail.

When the University of Washington accepted M.A. Mortenson Co.'s design- build-operate-maintain (DBOM) bid for the research and technology building, the award required that it be LEED-certified by the U.S. Green Building Council. To the university's surprise, the building became the first LEED gold building on campus.
