2008 Engineering Excellence Awards honor local firms

The American Council of Engineering Companies of Washington’s 40th annual awards ceremony on Friday honored 29 projects for engineering expertise in structural, technological, environmental and transportation projects.

Parsons/HNTB Corp. won the top award — the Platinum Award — for structural engineering on the Tacoma Narrows Suspension Bridge connecting Tacoma with the Kitsap Peninsula. The top five national-level awards will compete in the ACEC national competition in Washington, D.C. in March. Best in State awards were also given to local projects.
