City committee eyes changes in citywide height bonus plan

The Seattle City Council is considering making changes to a citywide incentive zoning plan proposed by Mayor Greg Nickels.

Nickels' plan, which has not yet been officially introduced, expands Seattle's current downtown height bonus program to the whole city. That would allow developers to build taller buildings when they provide public benefits such as setting aside some units at lower rents or purchase prices, or paying for those units to be built elsewhere.
