Engineer offers lessons from Germany on energy efficiency

Steve Straus, president of the engineering company Glumac, spoke here this week about what Seattle can learn from Germany's efforts to become more energy efficient.

Germany's greenest buildings, like the Lufthansa Aviation Center in Frankfurt, push the envelope, but Straus said the average German building isn't much different than the average U.S. building. So what makes Germany a more energy efficient country? They don't use as much space. The average German lives in about 420 square feet.
