Seattle may require more buildings to get retrofits

A committee is developing standards for seismically retrofitting unreinforced masonry buildings and is expected to complete its work in the next month or two, said Alan Justad, deputy director with the city’s Department of Planning and Development.

There are about 800 buildings in Seattle that are this type of construction.
