Bumgardner rethinks waste/recycling bin

The user turns a wheel that activates a pulley to raise the lid so trash and recyclables can be tossed into the bin.

Bumgardner Architects designs apartment towers and urban mixed-use projects, but recently the Seattle firm put its imprint on something a tad less substantial: an innovative little waste/recycling station that can be easily used by frail and disabled people.
