City moving to mandate seismic upgrades for masonry buildings

The Piston & Ring building on Capitol Hill underwent a life safety seismic upgrade nearly a decade ago.

A citizens committee has come up with recommendations on how to implement a law that would mandate seismic upgrades of about 1,000 of Seattle's older buildings.
