Vancouver planner tells Seattle: good density doesn't just happen

Brent Toderian threw down the gauntlet at the Downtown Seattle Association's annual economic forum on Wednesday.

The urban design consultant and former planning director for Vancouver, B.C., touted his city's thriving downtown, which saw its residential population jump 75 percent between 1996 and 2011, along with a 26 percent increase in jobs.
