Julie Eizenberg worked on the renovation of this Los Angeles YMCA built in 1926. A cross-ventilated addition is shaded by photovoltaic panels. Perforated metal screens feather at the corners to frame city views.

Julie Eizenberg, a founding principal of Santa Monca, Calif.-based Koning Eizenberg Architecture, will deliver the Callison Endowed Lecture titled “Opportunity Hides in Plain Sight” at 6 p.m. April 16 at Architecture Hall 147 at the University of Washington.
