Redmond received a National Trails and the Arts Award for Redmond Central Connector, a recreational trail through downtown.
The city said in a press release that the award recognizes public art, interpretive signs and other creative structures associated with trails.
One mile of the connector has been built so far. Berger Partnership designed it, KPG was civil engineer and Seattle artist John Fleming created artwork.
The one-mile segment runs from Bear Creek Trail to Sammamish River Trail. It is part of what will be a four-mile trail on a former railroad corridor called Redmond Spur, going from the SR 520 interchange to the northern city limits.
The connector is part of King County's trail system, which has more than 60 miles of trails including Sammamish River Trail, East Lake Sammamish Trail and the SR 520 Bike Way.
