Historic Seattle will offer a tour of the modernist Egan House from 1 to 4 p.m. Aug. 16 at 1500 Lakeview Boulevard E. in Seattle.
Construction was completed in 1959 on the house, which is nestled between the Eastlake and Capitol Hill neighborhoods. The house cost $10,762, and was built for Admiral Willard Egan.
Historic Seattle said it is one of architect Robert Reichert's most notable residential designs. Its triangular shape and prominent location — a steep, wooded hillside off Lakeview Boulevard East — make it a distinctive visual landmark within the city.
Egan House is a city of Seattle landmark. Historic Seattle owns and has done restoration work on the house, which it rents out.
Docomomo WEWA is co-sponsoring the tour, which costs $25. Register at http://tiny.cc/lkyn0x/.
