NWAIA honors 11 design projects

Eleven projects won 2016 Design Awards from the Northwest Washington Chapter of the American Institute of Architects.

There were 21 submissions. To be eligible, projects must have been designed by architects who are NWAIA members or whose main office is in Whatcom, Skagit, San Juan or Island counties.

The award categories are honor, merit and citation.

The chapter also gave Christopher Mead of RMC Architects the 2016 Emerging Professional Award. In a press release, it said he has been a leader at his firm. He focuses on development and sustainability upgrades for mixed-use multifamily projects, and is the firm’s technology administrator and BIM manager.

Rich Wagner, Deanna Lane and Ken Hertz were on the jury.
