2017 AIA Seattle Honor Award Winners

The American Institute of Architects Seattle chapter picked 18 winners in two categories — built and conceptual — at the 67th annual Honor Awards event on Monday. There were 133 submittals.

AIA said this was the second year for the Energy in Design Award, recognizing projects that significantly reduce energy use while maintaining high quality design. Here is the jury: J. Meejin Yoon AIA, FAAR of Cambridge/Boston; Robert Harris FAIA, LEED fellow of Austin/San Antonio; and Shirley Blumberg CM, OAA, FRAIC, AIA of Toronto. Dr. Vikramaditya “Vikram” Prakash of the University of Washington was the moderator.

The jury said the range and quality of the projects submitted demonstrates the area’s strong design culture. They also applauded the winners on their craft and use of materials.
