Arena Sports yesterday held a grand opening for its $17 million indoor soccer and entertainment complex in Mill Creek at 13500 Bothell-Everett Highway.

The 98,000-square-foot building houses three indoor soccer fields and things that Arena Sports' four other locations don't have: a family entertainment center with bowling alley, two-story laser tag arena, video arcade, inflatable playground and restaurant.

“We had more than 2 million visitors last year at our other four locations combined. With all the extra amenities, we expect over a million visitors annually at our new Mill Creek location,” said Don Crowe, CEO of Arena Sports, in a news release. “We anticipate a significant portion of our business to be parties and special events. Research shows people will drive farther for a premier party destination, so we pulled out all the stops to make this new space extraordinary.”

The facility has opened in stages, with soccer classes and leagues starting in October, followed by the entertainment center last month and the upstairs party area and community meeting room last week.

Dahlgren Industrial was the general contractor and MG2 the architect. Pinnacle Indoor Sports was in charge of sports facility design and construction consulting.

The building required placement of 2,750 cubic yards of concrete and 35 tons of rebar and mesh.

Dahlgren reported that only one minor injury occurred over eight months of construction and 55,000 labor hours.

Arena Sports is based in Redmond. It expects to employ more than 200 full- and part-time workers in Mill Creek.

The city has said it could develop part of Bothell-Everett Highway into a recreation corridor that would complement the new Arena Sports complex.
