MOHAI event tells the story of Bertha

Photo from Catherine Bassetti Photography [enlarge]
Catherine Bassetti documented the progress of the SR-99 tunnel project and Bertha from January 2014 to the present.

The Museum of History & Industry will hold a free program titled “Capturing Bertha & the Biggest Tunnel in the World through Film and Photography” at 6:30 p.m. March 21 at its South Lake Cafe.

Photographer Catherine Bassetti took photos and videos of the SR 99 tunnel project — from hundreds of feet up in the air to hundreds of feet underground. Bassetti's images capture the machinery, the rescue and return of the cutterhead, the emergence of Bertha, and disassembly of the tunnel boring machine.

Bassetti will join HistoryLink's Jennifer Ott for a discussion about the stories she documented with her cameras.

The program is part of the History Cafe series of the museum, which is at 860 Terry Ave. N.
