Community design movement comes of age

  • Community design has come full circle, as a new generation of graduates begin building communities.

    The words design and community go together quite easily now, in many different design specialties.

    It’s been 30 years since community design became a movement, an alternative type of practice that took architects out of their studios and onto streets where they might not have dared to walk before. They were determined to help realize the dreams of people who can’t pay architects, people who may not even be able to afford a place to live.
